Packing up a picnic this weekend, need ideas -
Hey ladies,
I'm planning a romantic fall picnic for our anniversary trip this weekend. Any ideas what to pack up? I want to keep the messes (and the trash - packaging, plates, etc.) to a minimum.
Any suggestions?
TIA!

this might not be super romantic food...but here's what I would make
grapes and cheese (precut cheese slices) and crackers if you like fried chicken spinach salad with hard boiled eggs, potatoes and bacon (bring a small container of dressing) peach pie (cut in slices already and in tuppleware) red wine
nothing really needs to be kept cold except for the cheese....and if you pack it all in glad ware, you can toss it when you're done.
a picnic sounds sooo nice...

We do picnics at the beach in the summer. Like on Friday night or Saturday night when most people leave.
We usually get Panera Bread. No stressing out and the sandwiches/salads/soups are great for take out.

add whipped cream and chocolate sauce and you're good to go!
if you really want to eat...
how about a nice tomato or potato leek soup in a thermos (or other non-chunky soup so you can eat it sans spoon), cold fried chicken strips, apple slices (with squeezed lemon to stop from turning brown) and some kind of cocktail sandwiches...
like goat cheese and smoked salmon on pumpernickel
or brie, blackforest ham, and aformentioned apple slices...
maybe some mulled cider or Toddy in another thermos....
avoid salads and such and keep it to finger food that you can feed each other....and let your fingers linger!
