Painted white wood or White laminate vanity in bathroom
We are in the process of designing our bathroom remodel. We are doing a white vanity. every designer that i spoke with told me to go with a laminate over a painted white cabinet for the bathroom. Pros are much cheaper, but cons...it's laminate! they say that painted white can peel in the bathroom. So confused. cannot imagine spending all the money on a bathroom remodel and using laminate cabinetry. If your bathroom is white are your cabinets wood or laminate?

I had white laminate in the bathroom of my old house, which we did mostly due to price because we knew we'd be selling. In our current house I did painted white wood vanities. I just think it looks nicer, but is definitely more money.

I dont care about the price, I just am concerned as to why a designer would push it.

Then I'd definitely say go with painted. I've only had them for about six months, but no problems or signs of future problems.

It may have something to do with the relationship between wood and moisture over time. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that, over time, humidity can cause wood to bend/peel.

I had 2 white vanities in my old house, that I put in. One was laminate, one was painted. Neither ever peeled. Dont know if I would want laminate in a major remodel.

Re: Painted white wood or White laminate vanity in bathroom
I have a built in wood vanity in my bathroom that's original to the home built in the 50s. It's been painted white and the only issue I see that we may need to paint it periodically as they do get nicked, chipped etc, but it hasn't warped or anything all the drawers work fine and everything. laminate might be easier maintenance but I like the wood
Eta - I think it's because the owners didn't prime it or something. So if done properly it should last
