I want to paint a mural on the rock climbing wall my husband built for the boys. Does anyone have suggestions on what type of paint to use for something like this?

It's outdoors so I guess a waterproof paint but how do I get all those colors? I have 2 acrylic paint sets left over (for canvas) with a huge color selection Would regular acrylic paint work if I seal it with a clear coat?
