Painting toddlers room

DH will be painting Mikayla's big girl room soon. Once he paints it, can she sleep in it that night? If not, how long should she stay out of the room for?

Re: Painting toddlers room

What kind of paint is he using? I just used the Natura by BM last week when they painted my whole upstairs - we slept downstairs for a few nights - b.c it does have a slight smell. I'm of the opinion if it smells you shouldn't sleep in there until you get rid of 99% of the smell (I know it takes a while for it to completely go away) - but with the windows open and a fan going - if you use the non voc paints maybe 1-3 nights. It is really a judgement call and how quickly it takes to get the smell out. I would definitely not sleep in it for at least 1-2 nights though.

Re: Painting toddlers room

We used 100% zero VOC paints in our house. You can almost stick your face in the can of paint and not worry about it. "Regular" paint can off-gas for up to a year, but the worst of it is gone in the first week.
