painting upstairs bedrooms in cape?

We just put up all new walls in one of the bedrooms upstairs in our cape. We are wondering how to paint it though? Did you do the ceiling and walls on the same color or what? The slanted walls/ceiling are throwing us off!

too funny, DH and I were just talking about this with our painting project. I consider the slant part of the ceiling so it'll be painted white along with the actual ceiling.

I think we are going to paint the slanted part and the ceiling the same...i had a pic saved in my notebook and someone had done that and it looked nice. I'll try to post it.

My brother and SIL have a cape, and the slanted walls are the same color as the lower walls. Then they have those little doghouse dormers, and they are painted white. The contrast is nice.

IMO, if you were doing a light color, I'd do the slant walls in the color.

We have a cape, our bedroom has slanted walls we painted the room sage green but the slanted part and "top" is one shade lighter than the side walls. It came out looking great. It is barely noticeable but makes a nice slight contrast.

I agree.

If going with a darker color, like the pics, I'd paint the slant white like the ceiling.

It's all personal preference.

Re: painting upstairs bedrooms in cape?

We have a split but our third bedroom is similar to an upstair of a cape. We painted it a gold/yellow and we painted the slanted part since it is a light color. I don't have any pics though...

We used a lighter color and painted it all the same color, ceiling, slanted, and regular walls.

We have a cape too. The slanted walls are white. It's so hard to figure out at first!

Re: painting upstairs bedrooms in cape?

We aren't in a cape anymore, but we had painted the ceiling a flat white and the walls a different color when we were in the cape.

It was a difficult decision because the ceiling comes so low, but I liked the way it came out.

Re: painting upstairs bedrooms in cape?

We used BM barely beige and did the slant. You can barely tell the difference b/t the slant and the ceiling in this pic External Image
