Parent Anniversaries...
My parents will be celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary in October.
What are some things you have done or will do for "big" anniversaries?
I don't want to wait until the last minute and need some ideas...
Thanks in advance!

Re: Parent Anniversaries...
For my parents' 25th a few years ago my siblings and I chipped in and threw them a surprise party. We also made a memory book- in addition to scanning in old pictures from their parents and sibling's albums, I sent questionnaires to their brothers and sisters, parents and friends asking things like what was their favorite tv show back then, what is their best quality, funniest memory, etc., and put their answers in the book.

Re: Parent Anniversaries...
I didn't do much for my parents 25th anniversary I got them $250 gift card.
For their 30th I plan on throwing them a surprise party or send them on a cruise.

Re: Parent Anniversaries...
My parents just celebrated their 35th - and I knew they didn't want a party at all.
If they are like my parents, they enjoyed the gift certificate to a great restaurant and a special embroidered pillow celebrating their 35th. It was perfect!

Re: Parent Anniversaries...
I am an only child- so the cost is all on me, which is okay- but I can't go "as" crazy as I would if I were A. Loaded or B. had siblings to split it with...
I don't think I can come up with a party right now...
BUT, What do you think of sending them to chicago or new orleans for a long weekend? I know they want to go-
Should I pick the weekend or maybe for the day, get them a "travel guide" for whichever I chose and then choose the dates with them...buy the tickets and then hotel????

Re: Parent Anniversaries...
I paid for my parents Anniversary trip to Aruba. It was my gift to them. I paid for it alone since my brother is only 9 years old.

For my parents 40th we chipped in and sent the to Florida for a mini-vacation.
For my DH's parents, we're going to Florida (they live there) and we're taking them to see Cirque du Soleil in Disney.

Re: Parent Anniversaries...
For my parents 25th, I threw them a surpirse party at their house, it was so much fun!
For my parents 30th my brother and I had a nice party at a friend's restaurant in RVC. We had great food, friends and we set up a dais with the bridal party.
They had a lot of fun and it was the last time a special person to my mom was with us, so it was extra special for all of us.

You can get them a gift card from liberty travel and they can plan any vacation that they want. We did this for both of our parents in the past. It was a great idea and let them control where they went and when. We put it in a travel bag with towels, sunscreen, travel brocherues etc and they all loved it.
