Parent/teacher conferences...

What's your schedule like?

I have the 2nd one tonight...ugh! We have a full day of teaching and then our sessions are:
3-5pm
5-6--dinner hour
6-8pm

I don't see a ton of parents since I have strictly upperclassmen, but I hate p/t conferences!!!!!

Re: Parent/teacher conferences...

We have them on one night in December about a week after they get the first quarter report cards.

High school- we teach 1/2 a day (per 1-5)
11-noon (appprox) lunch break for teachers
noon-2:20- conferences
2:20-6 break
6-9 pm- conferences

We are asked to keep conferences to 3 minutes.
I would always get almost every parent because I taught 4 advanced/AP/college classes. Very sad because my colleagues that taught kids who really needed help, their parents never showedChat Icon The apple doesn't fall far from the tree for better or for worse.

We did ours at the end of November and beginning of December. We had two evenings from 530-830 pm. I teach high school.

We have perhaps the worst system ever (although, supposedly, with our newest contract, it's going change). Currently, we just have to schedule them 1-2 a morning in a 3-4 week span. So basically, I do PTCs for a month. Freakin ANNOYING.

Re: Parent/teacher conferences...

well.. i work at a district in NJ... but for ours, we have it one week in november ( like right at the end of 1st marking period). we have a week of early dismissals, so every day that week teh kids are gone by 12:30. M,W,F there are conferences after the kids leave from 1-3. T and TH, teachers leave at 12:30 also, but have to come back for evening conferences from 6-8. this way, it leaves both evening and afternoon conference spots for parents to come in.
this is the only time its mandatory for conferences. we have another conference time in march, too but thats only by parent or teacher request.

We have them from 1-3pm in the afternoon on a half day of school, then from 5:00 to 7:30pm the next day.

Re: Parent/teacher conferences...

We have ours the Monday before Thanksgiving.

Our first session is from 2-5, we have a dinner break from 5-6, and the second session goes from 6-9.
