Parenting related only because I feel as though I was saving my son!!!
OK, so I came home from work last night. The empty garbage can was still out on the street, so I brought it up the driveway.
As I walk towards my front door, I see something move out of the corner of my eye towards the front of the house....
It was a SNAKE!!!!!!    
It must have been about a foot and a half to 2 feet long (DH thinks I am grossly overestimating  ) but I freaked out.
I didn't want it lurking around our house so I called DH who was inside the house and basically said "Babe, babe, babe, babe... there's a SNAKE outside the house!"
So he comes out with DS and between the 2 of us we eventually play the role of crocodile hunters and catch the snake in an empty cat litter box. (because I wasn't just going to let it lurk around our house looking for a way to get in!)
As the snake sits in the container, I realize there is something wrong with my cat so at 8:00 last night we all go to the emergency animal hospital and spend 2 and a half hours there (she apparently has a bladder infection and will be fine! )
Meanwhile DS is not even trying to go to sleep. He is more awake than we are... and finally at 10:50 we head home, pick up the snake, drive to a park and I run into the woods to release the slithery critter!
And all this happened AFTER I spilled hot chocolate on myself and drove through the lincoln tunnel EZPass lane without my EZPass because DH took it out of my car  .... could yesterday have been any more bizarre???
Never been so happy for Tuesday!

You are a BRAVE woman. There is no way I'd be corraling a snake into a container...and THEN driving with it in my car!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I refused to let anyone kill it... I can't watch anything die... so I had to take matters into my own hands.
You should have heard DH as I ran into the darkness to release it... he didn't want to lose sight of me!!!

i hate snakes. i would rather have someone take my eyeballs out with a fork before I would ever ever ever trap one and save it. No way.

As someone who battled an invasion by a squirrel 11 months ago (well, I didn't battle it, I called my FIL and ran and posted on LIF ) I applaud you
Oh, and I don't think I would have been so kind to that snake... not one of my favorite creatures.

I thought the exact same thing! I would have screamed just like the girly girl I am and ran in the house.

You are a super mom. No way I would have been able to participate in trapping the snake. Best I could have done is tried to relocate it using a ten foot long broom.
