Re: parenting xpost: question for mom's that delivered without epidural

9lbs 2 oz
3 hours of pushing, 9 hours of active labor
I must be crazy, but yes.

Although I told DH I'd get an epi next time, right after I took my percocet in the hospital.

Edited because time heals all wounds and plays with the memories.

Re: parenting xpost: question for mom's that delivered without epidural

how large was your baby? 7lb8oz

how long where you labor? a little over 4 hrs; about 45 minutes of knowing I was in labor

would you do it without an epidural again? I intend to try and hope to but know that every pregnancy/delivery is different so i'm open to an epi if necessary

Re: parenting xpost: question for mom's that delivered without epidural

7lbs 14oz 21"
17 hours from the time my water broke until he was delivered

i think if i am PREPARED for the lack of pain meds, I'd have no problem doing it again. I was given pitocin for 10 hours with this delivery because my contractions weren't progressing and the baby wasn't dropping after my water broke. Pitocin contractions are extremely painful. I feel like if i handled those with no meds, i can handle another birth.

how long where you labor? 11 hours the first time, 15 the second. I would say for both about 1/2 the time was really active labor though.

I honestly don't know. My first pregnancy I had an epi and loved it. My last pregnancy I went natural. The recovery was much quicker going natural, but I was more relaxed during labor with the epi. It's a toss up.

how long where you labor?6 hours of labor plus 1 hour of pushing
would you do it without an epidural again? Absolutely! I prepared myself in every way possible for a natural drug-free childbirth and I was also lucky to have such a quick labor/delivery.

I did not intend on having a completely natural birth, but she wanted to get out too fast for any drugs Chat Icon I had an epidural with DD #1. I would love to be able to have another delivery without the epidural for the next kid(s).

how large was your baby?

#1 7 lbs 2 oz
#2 7lbs 7 os

how long where you labor?

Both a couple of hours and about 3 pushes

would you do it without an epidural again? Heck yes in fact it was very important to me for #2! I felt great both times and am SO glad I got to experience natural childbirth.

DS#1 - 7lbs 12 ozs, labor for 10 hours, pushed 22 minutes
DS#2 8lbs 13 ozs, labor for 3 hours, pushed 10-15 minutes
DD 9lbs, labored for 9 hours, pushed once, my water broke she came out

I did it three times. It hurts - I won't lie. Honestly the pushing didn't hurt me really. I would just say that you don't know how it will go until you are in the thick of it. I went in open minded all three times. An epi was not out of the question I just made it through without.

Good luck.

29 hours of labor, but I paid attention to the contractions too soon...

Pushed for 3.5 hours -- I was really bad at that part!

Hoping to do it drug-free again in a few weeks!! Chat Icon

Re: parenting xpost: question for mom's that delivered without epidural

I just want to add that if you're going naturally, make sure they numb you with some lidocaine if you need to be stitched up afterwards. I swear, feeling every stitch was worse than pushing out a kid and a placenta. Chat Icon

This was horrible - the things that happened to my body I can't even share on a public site Chat Icon I'm hoping my next delivery is slower to avoid unnatural tearing

DS was 6 lbs 13 oz
From 5:30 the morning of until 3:56 pm when I delivered. My water broke in the hospital and i delivered within a half hour after that. I pushed a total of 3 times.
I intended on getting an epidural but I progressed too quickly. Yes I would do it again without drugs!
