I work as a 7th and 8th grade sp ed. teacher in a long island district and what you wrote is my life to the "T"

It is so frustrating, and the kids are the ones who suffer and we are the ones who take the blame.

So many teachers have thrown up their hands and given up because they can't fight the fight anymore.

I am forced to teach essay writing in my English class but most of my students cant write a sentence.

The students who really try and are well behaved get looked over because my time is taken up by the behavior and emotional problems of some students. Thats right, all disabilities are lumped together in one class. I have 1 kid who has an IQ of 70 and another who has an IQ of over 100.

I have been teaching for 9 years and unfortunetly I think its getting worse each year.

I try not to think about it all or let it get to me at work because it can bring me to tears and i cannot allow my self to come home that frustrated anymore. I just try and do the best with what I am given and hope that change comes soon
