"Parents night out" Babysitting service
A friend of mine mentioned something about a place that will babysit your kids for a few hours on a sat night while you go out to dinner/movie/bar/etc - like a daycare type place...
I think she said it was in Long Beach...(not sure of the name)
I think this is such a great idea! What a great way to go out and not feel like you are always imposing on grandma and grandpa! HAHA!
Do places like this exist anywhere else!?!?!? I would love to try one out!
She said her kids love it. They play/watch movies/eat pizza/dance/etc!

Re: "Parents night out" Babysitting service
These type of places are SOOOOO common OOS.. Where I lived, they had drop in childcare.. and you only pay hourly and 1/2 off for siblings.. Most, if not all of the private preschools offered nights in like these for the kdis as well and it always included so many fun things for the kids..
wish they had more of them like it here in NYS

Re: "Parents night out" Babysitting service
Once Upon a Treetop and Gymboree both offer these one or two times a month.
Personally I prefer to just get a sitter. Same $$, I know the person, DD is in her own home and will be fed, bathed and put to bed (hopfully) by the time I get home.

Re: "Parents night out" Babysitting service
I am trying to get one going at Darlings & Divas.. we'll probably be launching something regular in the summer.. a Friday night and maybe for 2 or 3 hours during the week (daytime) for SAHMs that want a hair cut, go shopping, etc...
I'm just trying to work out how long I should offer the night out and how much to charge..
We were thinking 3 1/2 hour PJ party with pizza dinner, cupcakes, movie, games, and a craft...

A few places do this and I think it's a great idea. Not sure where you are located, but I know Bouncers & Slydos does it, as does Lipsticks n Lollipops (girly spa in Suffolk), and My Gym

Re: "Parents night out" Babysitting service
my DD's daycare does this every couple of months, a parents night out where they organize activities at the daycare for a Saturday night...like 5-9 or something. Doesn't work for me though since Riley goes to bed so early.
There should be more drop-in type daycares- and 'sick' daycares too!

Re: "Parents night out" Babysitting service
Our daycare does "parents night out" every couple months. Its so great because the kids are comfortable and you know the sitters. The kids love it! They have pizza and popcorn and watch movies. Its from 6:30-11:30 and they charge $30 for 1st kid, $10 for each sibling. I have 3 so we make out great!

of course..who wouldnt but if we ever have the opportunity to go out two weekends in a row I always feel guilty and imposing! (Even though this happens rarely! )
But a once in a while treat for my kids..I think they would love this!
ETA: I think I found the long beach one
Seaside Celebrations
It is $30 (3 hr fri) or $40 (4 hr sat) and just $5 for sibling!
I think that is a pretty good deal!
I should check with my friend

Re: "Parents night out" Babysitting service
I see a lot of places doing this. Hot shots in Mineola does one for 3-12 - I think it is about $40 for 6-10pm - they give them dinner and have lots of activities. I think once upon a tree top, Bouncers and slydos, and a couple of other places are doing them. They are not all the time - but they do have specific dates if you go to their website.
