Parents of toddlers
Does anyone else still have a wrestling match when you have to change their diaper. Jordana screams and cries and wiggles around. I thougt this is something she would outgrow by now. I try to distract her. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't.
Anyone else in the same boat?

Re: Parents of toddlers
LOL...I was just talking about this with someone!
How no one has mentioned having to pin their kid down to diaper them or having to lean your weight on your toddler who went stiff & won't go into a car seat.
Definitely been there. Wrestling around with a potential biohazard is tough.

Yep......I try and distract her too, sometimes it works, usually not.
I pretend to put the diaper on one of her toys a lot, that works sometimes.

Re: Parents of toddlers
I've discovered that my key to success is to give her something she normally isn't allowed to have. For example, she always wants to play with my camera, so I keep my old one nearby for diaper changes and she thinks she's getting some sort of special treat

same here. we tend to give her things that she NEVER gets to play with...namely my cellphone or the lotion bottle or the bottle of her reflux meds.

Re: Parents of toddlers
yep - first it was wrestling matches aided by small toys and now only bribery works. usually a small piece of chocolate works for me - that is when he is ready to be changed.

Re: Parents of toddlers
Yes! It's almost impossible, and when there's #2 in there it's even worse, I've had to pin her down a few times or my DH and I double-team her (wrestling terms are appropriate here).
Sometimes singing to her works, sometimes handing her a toy or something she can't usually play with, sometimes I take her changing pad into my room and let her watch tv to distract her, but sometimes nothing works and it's just a disaster!

Re: Parents of toddlers
Michael is the same way. It is starting to become a 2 person project (one to change & the other to distract).

Re: Parents of toddlers
Oh yes yes yes.
But, Dh figured out a way to make it better. When she wakes up and he has to change her, first he says that "sleepysaurus" has to be changed (her favorite stuffed animal whom she sleeps with).
Together, they take a wipe and "clean" him, and then they take a diaper and put it on him together. And, then, a pair of shorts.
At this point, Alex will turn to DH and say "Alex" - she's ready and eager for her turn for a change.
It's definitely worth a shot!

Re: Parents of toddlers
I just let them stand up and do it. Molly has started this, so I just let her hold onto her crib and do it that way.
