Re: Parents social life
DS actually sleeps better in his car seat than anywhere else. I would use it every night but I don't want him to get used to sleeping there.
We take him a lot of places with us and just let him sleep in there when we get home.
Even if one of the grandmother's in watching him when we get to go out alone we just tell them to put him in the car seat when he falls asleep and do the same thing.
We are also lucky that both grandmother's basically trip over themselves wanting to babysit and have even told us why didn't we stay out later when we came to pick him up.

Re: Parents social life
we stay home to save $$. but we have no problem taking DS out with us if we want to go out. plus, our friends have been very accommodating and gone out to dinner with us at an earlier time to make sure DS didn't go to bed too late.

Re: Parents social life
I loved when my kids were in the carrier because we used to go to dinner and he would sleep in the carrier. Now our kids are 3 and 2, so we pay a babysitter one night a week (usually Fri or Sat) so we can go out. We usually dont go out until 7 or 8 so they are almost in bed. If we are going to take them out to dinner we usually go around 5pm.

Re: Parents social life
DS will absolutely not sleep in his carseat or stroller.
We only go out if we have a babysitter or individually with our friends while the other one stays at home.
It really upsets me when people say "oh, just keep him up for a few extra hours. he'll be really tired and sleep later tomorrow morning". I wish DS was like that, but every child is different and mine needs to be in his crib at 7:30.
