Part-time nanny "benefits" question?
We hired a nanny to watch DS in our home 2 days / week.
We are paying her $10/hour for two 7 hour days.
What kind of vacation / sick benefits would you offer, if any?
I was thinking 5 vacation days and 3 sick days?
Is that too much?

Re: Part-time nanny question?
I have a nanny that comes to my house 2 days a week.
She does not get any sick or vacation time.
I don't think you need to unless it is full time.
If I don't need her for one of her days I just have to let her know 1 week in advance and so far she has never called in sick. We've had her since March.

Thanks! I just keep thinking that if she had a regular job that was on the books that she would be accruing vacation...
Maybe I will just wait and see if she asks me about it.

I'm not 100% sure of this, but I think that even with a regular "on the books job", if you are truly part time (like less than 30 hours per week or something) you don't get benefits. I'm pretty sure that when I worked part time during school (at a law firm), I did not get benefits like sick days and vacation days. I worked up to 20 hours per week.

I think you are right. Part time hourly employees do not get benefits.
I think you have to be considered full-time for benefits to accrue.
