Re: "parties"

The only reason I got into this was to force dh to have to watch kids 2 nights a week. He was going on a biking trip and asked if i could watch his friend's 3 month old while they were gone. I flipped.
Perfect storm of jewelry party that night-I knew if I had to go to "work" then he would have to leave his job on time and put kids to bed.
I have to say, I don't hate it I don't care though if people buy or not...I am out and having fun. I do book a lot of parties though...going to a stranger's house tonight to throw one. I just lay it out, do a quick chat-like 15 mins-and then hang out while people put orders in and book shows.
Worked 2 nights last week...one night made 200.00, the other night made 75. For being out with the girls...I don't even care that I don't know them
Older women buy a lot...younger host shows to set off price of stuff they want.
I don't know how long I will do it. Def until I pay off the initial investment...but even after this is all done...then i do have a ton of jewelry...i am up to like 2k worth...so it was good because i did not have anything before hand.
When I am tired of this, I def want to get into something else...not sex toys though-that presentation bores me and lasts forever. I am such a minimalist...I don't want any kitchen things...I have to find something I need
I would look into Tastefully Simple ...Haven't been to one of those I didnt enjoy
I know you have lots of kiddies around there...What about maybe Discovery Toys ??

Re: "parties"
Tastefully Simple-LOVE THEM.
I like most parties (tastefully simple, 31, etc), never when to an "adult" party, but anything else I am usually game for.

Re: "parties"
I've been to passion parties and didn't buy anything. I wouldn't mind going to a pampered chef party though I definitely wouldn't leave empty handed.

Re: "parties"
Jewelry parties are my least favorite. I always seem to regret my purchase. I went to one last year and spent $100 for two necklaces and those were two of the least inexpensive items there. I could found something similar for less in the stores. I will say that the older guests dropped a ton of money at the party though.
I like Tastefully Simple and always enjoy those parties - what's not to love about sampling food? Never been to a wine party but I think I'd like that too. I also like Pampered Chef and have never regretted my purchases. In fact, I use them all the time.

Re: "parties"
I'm usually not a fan of jewelry parties but I went to a Stella and Dot party at my sister's house and really liked what they had (though it's a little pricy). I've since gone to another, well, I didn't actually make it but wound up placing an order for $100 and honestly, I wear the jewelry a lot and get lots of compliments on it.
Other than that I really like Pampered Chef and, believe it or not, Tupperware. That stuff is the best!!

Re: "parties"
home from my party...first time with all strangers...went well!
looked up tastefully simple...they only give you 30% of total retail. Mine gives 50%....I have to research other jewelry companies to see what they give. Adds up if I sell a 60.00 necklace.
stella and dot pays out 25-30%. lia sophia is 30%

I hate to say it, but I only go and purchases things because I feel obligated, otherwise I have not interest in that stuff. All of it is totally overpriced, especially the jewelry.
I completely agree. I hate being invited to these types of "parties".

wanted to add-i do go to parties that my friends host.... mainly because i am usually eating and drinking there...so what would i have spent going out out with them? atleast 20.
so for that, i got out and my 20.00 goes to some specialty spatula...that's fine with me
That's actually a really good way to look at it.
I never did anything like this and never will but I don't mind going to these parties.
If anyone is hosting Tastefully Simple...let us know...yum!

Re: "parties"
I became a Tastefully Simple consultant a few months ago to make extra money. I love doing it because it's like a night out for me and DH doesn't mind watching the kids -- all the while, I am making extra cash. Since I use and love the products myself, it's easy for me to sell the products....and who doesn't love drink buckets?! LOL!!! I think alot of people don't mind these parties as much because the products aren't that expensive -- majority of products are betwen $5 and $9.
I like going to jewelry parties and pampered chef parties -- again, it's a night out for me and I love to shop!

Re: "parties"
I think Pampered Chef is my favorite. I feel like I can always find something that is not too expensive that I can use and enjoy myself eating and chatting. I also think the quality of their products is good and not really much more expensive than if I bought the stuff retail.
I am not a fan of the jewelry parties, I have recently been to 2 Lia Sophia parties and not bought. I think their stuff is really overpriced and in order to get anywhere near what I would consider a reasonable price for the stuff, you have to buy a lot, like drop $100 or more. If I am spending that much on a night out, I would rather be out for dinner or drinks, JMO.

i have never heard this before in my life the se toy parties bore you?!?!?!? Im because I am a consultant, and im usually told the opposite...like how much can you say about a spatula?
Anyway, i agree though, i originally starting consulting with Passion Parties because I wanted a "night out" of the house..but the income potential is amazing, and im making enough to SAH with the lil ones..i like the direct sales business alot..and never have anyone leaving a party feeling "obligated" which is nice
