Party Location in Central - Eastern Nassau
I'm looking for a restaurant for DS's baptism, most likely 9/12.
Church is in Hicksville and we'd have 30-40 people.
I was hoping for something different from the usual catered event, as in not Italian or Continental. I will probably hear it from the family for this, but oh well.
Has anyone done Mexican, Chinese, BBQ, or another different type of theme for a baptism or similar type party?
TIA!

Re: Party Location in Central - Eastern Nassau
My Sister-in-law had my neice's christening at Orchid in Garden City (on Franklin Avenue). Its a chinese restaurant. It was really nice. She had a private room with about 10 large round tables. There was a lazy susan on the center of each table and everything was served family style. Each table had about 4 entrees and three different types of rice (fried, white and brown). As the dishes were empty, the waiters/waitresses brought more food. Afterwards, they had cake and icecream.
The food was delicious and it was different. The room was a nice size to hold everyone and she had a magician who came to entertain the little ones!
Good Luck!

I would try Viva Loco in Merrick (Merrick Rd). The food is great and they're a mix of Mexican and Italian food. I went to a party there and they did a nice job.

That is funny, I just had my baby shower there June 5th! I totally agree with everything said! It was really good, and my family & friends still talk about it.

Mango's is a Mexican place in Bethpage on Central Ave. They could probably accommodate a private party.

Ditto. I think Mexican would be a great way to go. I know you said no Italian but I had a surprise dinner party for my DH at Belissimos in Amityville and it was FANTASTIC.
I've also heard good things about the Bulldog Grill in Amityville - I believe it's catered by Lessings.

If your looking for something really "different" I love the Melting Pot in Farmingdale, a great unique fondue restaurant.
