passport question
where the expiration date is, my passport reads:
08 jun/jun 09
this means that my passport expires on june 8, 2009, right??
furthermore, my passport is in my maiden name. all id need to bring with me for an international flight is a notarized photocopy of my "certificate of marriage registration", right?
anything else i should bring with me ?
how long does it take to get a new passport anyway?

Re: passport question
When are you going? If you are going after December 8th 2008, you have to get a new passport. From my experience your passport has to be valid for at least 6 months to travel out of the country.
Also what name is the ticket in? Your maiden name or married name? I think the name has to match your passport and I don't think a marriage certificate will help. Passports take no longer than 3 weeks, at most, to process these days.

Re: passport question
I haven't changed my passport to my married name yet either. I just book the ticket in my maiden name.

your passport does not need to be valid for 6 months prior to travel. I got mine and used it within its issue date and 2 weeks.
Also- since you need to renew it change the name. but if you were to use your passport with the old name, you should book your tickets in your married name since they require photo id to actually board the plane, and you may not have a photo id with your maiden name that is still valid.
then you bring your marriage license and (the original) and they will not give you a single problem.
But it sounds like your is expired so just renew it, you can do it online now, and change the name as well. you mail it all back to them along with your marriage license and you can choose to have it expideted if you need it really quick.

It has to be valid for 6 months AFTER travel. Some countries won't allow you to enter on a passport that is close to (ie, within 6 months of) expiring.

Like the previous poster said, which I failed to say, the passport needs to be valid for 6 months after you enter.
They won't let you in the country. I had to renew my passport to get back into Australia November 13th even though my passport expired April 28th 2009. Any country will not let you in.
Where is the original poster?
