PCOS
I have a question for others with PCOS. I have been told I am "borderline" PCOS since I am having irregular cycles and not ovulating.
I have done some research online and realize what the condition is about but my problem is I just cannot get the movitation to start exercising and back on track to eating right. And if I don't do this (and continue which is my biggest failure) I am not going to get pregnant. I am just so depressed about being heavier than I've ever been in my life and that ccausing the problems that I am now having and affecting my health that I can't stay on track. And when I am depressed I EAT. How do I break this cycle?
CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT MORE I NEED TO DO FOR THIS TO SINK IN MY HEAD? I am at the end of my rope with everything Thanks for listening

Re: PCOS
I really don't have any advice about PCOS....I just recently got diagnosed. But, I hope you feel better! As for excercise, maybe start with baby steps and start off walking 20 mins a day 3-4x's a week and work your way up. When I lived on LI, I would go to Jones Beach in the morning and walked the whole boardwalk and afterwards, I relaxed on the beach and read my book. I know better said than done. But, know that you are not alone. I feel your pain.
Just curious, have you checked your Thyroid levels? I know they go hand in hand with PCOS. Feel Better

Re: PCOS
This is a great support for women with pcos and there are tons of information about diet/nutrition.
Just losing a small amount of body fat is what is needed to change the insulin issue...your body may be enduring. Perhaps if you change the focus into exercising and giving up certain foods like (starchy carbs) rather than losing a lot of lbs,...it may work out.

Re: PCOS
You can't beat yourself up about the situation. It is what it is and blaming yourself will just make it worse.
Have you tried Weight Watchers? It's an excellent program and will really help you understand how and what to eat. You don't have to give up anything at all.
As far as excersizing, start small like taking the stairs to work or wear weights when housecleaning.
Lots and lots of women with PCOS have healthy babies.

Re: PCOS
Hello girls, I too have PCOS and I am taking Metformin. I joined Weight Watchers and do their Core program and this month I lost 10 LBS. I walk everyday and bought a pedometer and I do at least 10,000 steps a day. It is very hard but I have my little ways of making it work. I hang a picture on my Fridge of a baby and everytime I want to cheat I look at that picture and say I have to do this to get that. They are telling me that my only issue is the insulin so if I get that down it should work. I pray everyday. I have taken a few months off to lose more weight but my fasting insulin is down to 13, so it is moving. Good luck to you.

Congratulations on your Weight Loss! I was told that I need to lose 10-15lbs. I am waiting to see what my protocol will be. I am trying to find the right doctor. Maybe, I should place a picture of a lil baby on our fridge for motivation. Thanks for the idea. And I love the baby pict!

Re: PCOS
I was diagnosed with PCOS and wondering if its the BC shot I've been on. Anybody else not have problems until the shot?
As for PCOS, I was put on the South Beach Diet by my dr's nutritionist. It was awesome! I am still on it. It was the only thing that helped me.

Re: PCOS
I'm finding it very hard myself to lose weight. My RE said because of PCOS it would help a lot if I drop some pounds to get pregnant. I really have to push myself.

Re: PCOS
Hi! Another PCOS/Metformin gal with weight issues here. You're not alone. I know that's not much of a comfort when you're feeling so overwhelmed. What I can tell you is that it is possible to get pregnant and have a healthy baby while you are overweight. I conceived (my daughter will be 2 next month) while on metformin and being about 45 pounds overweight. I watched what I was eating while pregnant, and then went back to my old eating habits after I had her. I gained 25 pounds AFTER I gave birth--on top of the 25 I gained while pregnant! I lost 40 pounds within the past year, but also have put back on 10. Very frustrating and depressing. DH and I have been trying for the 2nd one for a year, but having fertility issues again (This time it's a combo of me (not ovulating) and DH) and, of course, weight issues. I think I will always have weight issues. I wish you luck!!
