PCOSers (really anyone)-
what kinds of meals do you make? I feel like I haven't cooked in forever- besides just being generally tired (which I know is depression and literally 'wearing myself out' mentally) I just don't know what's 'healthy' anymore. This could go onto food and recipes - but because it's more specialty diet related, thought I'd try it on here- hopefully it won't get moved.
I have PCOS and am insulin resistant... and am just stumped. When I cook I try to make chicken cutlets. I LOVE edamame and used to eat them all the time- but I've heard mixed things about having soybeans when TTC... so I'm turning to my support system for help
ETA: I try to have whole grains in place of white grains...

Re: PCOSers (really anyone)-
Honestly I haven't changed my diet at all but I have been thinking lately I really should because I am still having terrible stomach reactions from metformin. Not only that but it would be good to cut back on carbs for my health in general. I'm not insulin resistant so I thought I would be ok but my GI system is really rebellious. I already have IBS and metformin defintely makes it worse. I have episodes 2-3 times a week. Now how did I take a thread about dinner to my stomach issues, LOL?
I'm interested in reading respones to this!
Oh and the soy thing, I don't know what to think of that because I know some PCOCers use soy instead of clomid, so I don't know how it could be bad if its successful for some women.

My meals (except for lunch, because I'm lazy) are at least half protein. For me, the BIGGEST obstacle was cutting out refined sugar, because I AM A CHOCOLATE PERSON. I limit chocolate now to once per week.
But if you're substituting whole grains already, that's a HUGE step!

Re: PCOSers (really anyone)-
When I was on Met I ate Dreamfields pasta. It is special pasta so it didn't upset my tummy. I would cook the pasta and toss it with chicken and broccoli that was sauteed with garlic in oilive oil. It is an easy meal. Just heat the oil on med-high and toss in the chicken. Cook till almost done and add the garlic, fresh broccoli and a little more oil. Cover and let cook for like 5 min. I had an old stove so the temp may need to be adjusted. I would toss it all together and serve. mmmm you can add some lemon zest if you want a little more flavor. I had very limited food choises. The met made me lactose intolerant and the only meat I eat is chicken. So this was the perfect meal for me.

Re: PCOSers (really anyone)-
I don't have PCOS, but my husband is a health freak and I've started to inherit his good habits
We don't eat meat, but we do eat a lot of fish, about 2-3 servings a week. Usually tilapia, sometimes Salmon. The tilapia is so quick and easy - we just cover the fish with some spices and saute in a pan for 5 minutes with some olive oil. Every once in a while, we'll dab the fish in flour to give it a little extra oomph.
Next to the fish is a side of veggies, like string beans, broccoli, cauliflower, etc., and a serving of brown rice or whole wheat couscous.
The nights we don't eat fish, we eat the following:
- Vegetarian meatballs with whole wheat pasta
-Falafel with whole wheat pita and hummus
-Egg schnitzel with hummus
-Veggie omelette with hummus
-Shakshuka (traditional israeli dish with eggs and tomato sauce)
-Whole wheat farfelle with navy beans, tomatoes, spinach, pine nuts, artichoke, sometimes with shrimp
-Veggie burger on whole wheat bun with corn on the cob or a sweet potato
And once a week we get Chinese food - we get some veggie wonton soup, steamed veggie dumplings and an order of steamed veggies with tofu, with brown sauce on the side.
That's all I can think of for now

Re: PCOSers (really anyone)-
I've been following WW, bought a bunch of WW cookbooks and try to follow the "core" recipies as much as possible.
I also plan my meals for the week on Saturday and then shop accordingly.

I was actually considering starting WW- and getting my mom to do it w/ me. I keep asking her to come w/ me so we can sign up together but somehow it just never works out. I'm an extremely picky eater- DH will eat anything... I feel like when I cook I make the same dishes every time b/c it's all I can think of that I like to eat (that or it's all that I know how to make ) Do you actually do WW or just follow the cookbooks? TIA!!!
