PCOSers... there's some hope for us afterall....
Im putting this here for lack of a better board for it..
Quick history - I dont remember but Im pretty sure i had a normal cycle when I was in high school, then went on BCP for the "obvious" reasons. 12 years later off of BCP and ready to TTC. never got AF. waited 90 days and went on provera. followed that with a 42 day cycle so i thought i was regulating. followed that with a 60+ day cycle and again needed provera. eventually was DX with PCOS and started doing medicated cycles. my LH was off the charts high. during that time i had one or two 40 day "natural" cycles and the rest were all medicated. i got pregnant with my 13m old from my first IVF.
fast forward. i nursed my DD for 9m. no AF. i did get AF very soon after stopping nursing. i was always secretly hoping that pregnancy would "cure" PCOS for me, since i have heard it can do that.
well my first two cycles after nursing were 48 and 45 days long. so i was happy to at least have a cycle and be ovulating. then i decided to go back on metformin again. it never regulated my cycles before (or maybe i didnt give it time to since i was doing medicated cycles anyway).
well since going back on met my last two cycles have been 33 and 32 days!! OMG normal cycle length!!! given i still ovulate late, around CD23, and now i have a 9 day LP so i def developed an LP defect, but i feel that is a minor issue compared to what i dealt with before getting pregnant. its just hard to believe after such a long time i have a "normal" cycle and OPKs have actually been working for me!!! those first two longer cycles i had a few LH spikes here and there without ovulation, but the last two cycles i get EWCM and +OPK at the expected times and then I get AF!!! its amazing what "normal" women take for granted!!
anyway i just wanted to share that although my PCOS wasn't "cured" persay, i still need to take met for the regulation, my cycles are incredibly more manageable now than they ever were. its giving me hope that when i am ready to TTC #2, I just might be able to do it the "old fashioned" way...
....and if that does fail, hey I have 8 frosties waiting for me!!

My friend did IVF for her twins. She didn't get regular AF after and didn't BF. 18 mo later, bam! Pregnant naturally without even trying. I think pregnancy really does regulate your body sometimes.

we're not trying right now (unless you consider PNP "trying" ) but if we were blessed with a miracle (and it managed to stick without lovenox and intralipids).. well then it would be a miracle

weight loss. i dont know anyone who gained from it. so far this time its helped me lose weight, although the first time around it didnt. this time i think i am eating less on it because i just dont have cravings when im on it so its easier to eat low calorie.

Same for me ... it also provides a very regular bathroom cycle which helps... And yes, you can totally blame weight gain on the prednisone. That stuff is eeeeevil.
