Pediatrician Interview - What to expect

DH & I are visiting a local pediatrician's office today for the first time to see if we like it. What can we expect from such a visit? What kinds of questions should we ask? What things should we look for?

We went on ours Saturday morning! I knew we were going to use them because I have 2 friends that go there for their kids. She basically answered most of the questions I had just explaining how everything works, hours, on call, emergency, what hospitals they are affliated with, shots, things like that. I asked if there were any NP's or PA's...because we didn't want that, but they don't have those in their office. It is a good question to ask! Also, you can ask if they have any sub-specialites, seperate room for sick children/well babies...but I'm sure they will tell you all of that when they do their speech! LOL Good luck! I have this on my to do list and recently asked some friends/family about what to expect. My SIL said that basically the ped that she visited had a little "speech" for them which answered most of their questions.

There is a post at the top of the pregnancy page that has questions - but for me - some of the questions that I want answered are:
1) what are their views on vaccinations, meaning timing and how many at a time
2) what are their office hours like
3) when you call with a questions - can you speak with a doctor - or does a nurse relay the question/answer.

These are all the questions I asked.
The only thing I would add is whether they have a place where newborns come in and wait so they're not exposed to sick kids in the waiting room during well visits, etc.
