Peel and Stick tiles
DH and I have a functional/working bathroom. Aside from minor plumbing issues, nothing NEEDS to be done right now and frankly it is at the bottom of the house "to do" list.
HOWEVER, it is VERY dated (50s style). The wall tiles do not match the floor tiles in style or color. The floor tiles are loosening up. Our very temporary fix/compromise until we can afford a complete remodeling is to redo the plumbing fixtures and cover the floor tiles with peel and stick tiles.
We combed LOWE's and Home Depot and their selection is pretty limited. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can get peel and stick tiles?

Re: Peel and Stick tiles
Leslie, they have some really great ones on Amazon. Amazon Link
They cover 20 sq. ft. for $20.00 a box. They have some really nice ones too. Even ones that look like wood. But plenty that look like beautiful tile. Hope this helps. Let's us know which one you pick.

Re: Peel and Stick tiles
I just HATE this bathroom with such a passion. There is really nothing wrong with it, its just dated and ugly. But again, we don't NEED to redo it. We NEED to do siding and roofing. We NEED to redo (I mean SERIOUSLY GUT and destroy) the basement. We NEED to buy furniture for some rooms. This is what I am dealing with:
The top of the counters do not match the tiles. It is beige with pink-ish veins and it was a half-azzed job. You cannot even make it look funky. We just won't put in money for a new counter top when we will probably redo the whole thing in less than 5 years. I'd rather spend $20-40 on peel and stick now in order to tolerate it(the tiles on the floor are BLUE and NOT grey as they appear in the photo. Who does that? Why not make an attempt to match? I wont put bathroom carpet in there.
ETA: We are also replacing the handles on the cabinets which are a mixture of wood over the toilet and formica under the sink.
In my world, a bathroom is a castle and THIS queen needs a nice throne. Oh and yeah, I cannot find a new toilet seat - its a peachy color and its one of those soft ones that I cannot stand. I had to disinfect it eleventy billion times when we moved in.

Re: Peel and Stick tiles
The other day on HGTV they had a bathroom just like yours. There temp fix was to put beadboard(using liquid nails) over the wall tile in the room and inexpensive tile on the floor. They painted and it looked AWESOME!

Re: Peel and Stick tiles
Great idea. Problem is it will have to wait. I am 8+ months PG, this is not DH's forte at all and the one person who will do it for us is limited in time. What's funny is that those are the EXACT colors that were in the master bath in my parents' house. Its like they are coming to haunt me!

Re: Peel and Stick tiles
I really think that the floor tile change you want to do will help out a lot. And of course changing the handles will help too. It is in good condition, so that helps. Can you bring white and grey accents into the bathroom to help things out. Maybe more white then grey though. The white will tone other things down.
And like you said, other things really need to be done first in your home. Be ok with the bathroom for now. GL!

Re: Peel and Stick tiles
More great ideas that do not have to be expensive either. I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth I suppose. I should be happy that the toilet flushes which, when we moved in, was close to impossible because the flusher thingy broke off in my hand and I had to stick my hand in the tank to pull it up myself.
Mom always said the two rooms that matter the most in a house are the kitchen and the main bathroom. The kitchen is fine- just needed paint when we moved in. But the bathroom just blech. I will be signing up for any free bathrooms done by home improvement shows even if it means I have to show my huge rear on TV!!!

Re: Peel and Stick tiles
i know this totally dosnt answer your question, but I saw on some TV show that an easy fix was they re-glazed (painted) over everything in the bathroom... they made all of the tiles and stuff white... maybe that is something that is worth looking into??

Re: Peel and Stick tiles
They also have tub reglazing kits at Home Depot for $50. You might be able to use that. Cheap fix. Good bang for your buck. None of us like living with certain things in our homes, but we must all pick our battles. I know you said you made a list I believe. Try to stick to the list. It will all come together. Do what is best for your family first and work down the list. GL Leslie, you will get there and be very happy! There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Re: Peel and Stick tiles
*don't mind the mess! I feel your pain - our bathroom was a mismatched nightmare - This was our bathroom before we gutted it... Lived with it like this for over 2 yrs. It was so horrible - but I made myself feel better by calling it "vintage" instead of "gross" . I was able to find a blue toilet seat in a dollar store type of a place - but eventually just got a white one for convience sake

Re: Peel and Stick tiles
I had the exact same bathroom in an apartment.
Just give it a good cleaning (or have DH do it). Get some nice rugs- one in front of sink, one in front of tub, and some nice matching towels. Also, get a good quality shower curtain that matches the towels and rugs.
While it doesn't change the actual bathroom, as long as it is clean, in good working order, and has nice rugs, towels and curtain, you won't notice it as much.
I promise...
ETA.... If you (or DH) are up for the work, since you plan on re-doing it anyway in the future, you can paint over the wall tile. My cousin did. Paint the walls a nice neutral, then paint the tile white.

Re: Peel and Stick tiles
I re-did my kitchen floor a few months ago with a higher quality peel & stick from Home Depot...they are Trafficmaster Ceramica Mamouth 12 In. x 12 In. Resilient Tile Flooring...i almost didn't notice them in the store because they have them grouted in the display so i thought they were real tile...they are thicker than the normal peel & sticks...very happy with them! (please excuse the dog & dogfood in the pic..DH's idea of a photo)

Re: Peel and Stick tiles
A ways back we had an investment home that we rented out...We didn't want to spend a ton on making it fancy ( you never know how tenants will treat things )
We did peel and stick in the foyer area and it ended up being a bit of a disaster ( and DH is VERY handy)...We didnt buy the cheapest or the most expensive, they were middle of the road...
The problem was that the floor needed to be flashed ( to make it completely flat) as there had been tile over it previously...No matter how good of a flash job DH did, there was always an issue with a tile lifting , so putting those in a bathroom where there is moisture involved might cause me to be worried...If you do use them, make sure that you tell the store where you intend on putting them so that they can point you in the right direction kwim ?
I might actually consider linoleum/congoleum as well as a temporary fix
