Pegnancy Weeks Question
So I am still trying to get the hang of how they calculate how far along you are. I understand that they count it from the first day of your LMP, even though you conceived probably 2 weeks later. Which would make me 4wks and 2 days. Since I have surpassed the 4wk mark and am in my 5th week, does that mean I am also in my 2nd month?

Re: Pegnancy Weeks Question
it's tricky, but the first month is 6 weeks long. [none of it makes sense] it is just easier to say you are X weeks to people. i usually just say things like "i'm IN my X month or X week." emphasis on the IN makes them have to do the thinking so you can walk away and enjoy your day.

Re: Pegnancy Weeks Question
I am still lost... On fertilityfriend.com it says I am on 4wk 6days. Is it counting the first 2 weeks that I wasnt even PG yet?

Yes! Thats how they calculate Thats how the Drs calculate it too
Your "gestational age" is 2wk 6days But you are actually 4wk 6 days pregnant for medical purposes.
I think they do it this way because they can tell when women had their LMP, thats easy to track. But to track when they actually ovulated or conceived is harder to determine.
So they do it that way to keep timing uniform for all women.
HTH!

dead on. since some women have short cycles and some looooong cycles, it became easier to make a standard for determining pregnancy length. and most women know roughly which day they had their last period as opposed to when they ovulated FOR CERTAIN.

Also, it makes it easier to chart the "lunar month" (which I have no idea what that is about, but that is what the NP told me). They get a more accurate due date by calculating the lunar month.
