People buying stuff for the baby already.
I have to say I am a little uncomfortable with it. I never thought I'd be superstitious, but it seems weird to me that people are already buying little outfits & shoes & stuff. I think it is very nice that people are thinking of us & want to help us out, but to be honest I am telling everyone to keep the stuff they "find" or buy at their house until the baby is here. I did this to my mother yesterday (who knows I did not want stuff yet) & she got a little insulted.
Anyone else get bothered by this?

I have been getting so much stuff lately. I just keep it in the closet in the baby's room. I do know people that are superstitious though. And if you don't feel comfortable with it maybe you can keep it in someone else's house.

I am exactly like you. Thank goodness my mom and MIL are like that too and if they did indulge in buying things they knew they needed to keep it out of my house.
My mom is so superstitious she wouldn't even keep it in her house, she kept baby stuff covered in the garage, if she bought it. She didn't buy any clothes though.

Re: People buying stuff for the baby already.
My best friend, went on a baby buying spree for me, I got bottle drying racks, onesies, all kinds of stuff which is now just laying around our house. I agree though, I wish theyd wait at least until the 2nd trimester, I dont want to have to look at this stuff, god forbid something goes wrong.

I mean I don't want to seem ungrateful, becuase I am just overwhelmed at how much people are already helping, nor do I want to sound like a hypocrite (since I already ordered my crib & some other furniture), but things like onesies & booties & swaddlers & stuff I dunno....

Re: People buying stuff for the baby already.
The first time I was pg, a friend of mine bought me some really really cute sweatpants and a bib- so adorable. But honestly, it did make me feel a little uncomfortable- like almost superstitous- and as you know, I did end up having a miscarriage- so I totally understand where you are coming from.

Not me, I have already been shopping and I am only 15 weeks, and we don't even know the sex yet! But I do understand why you feel the way you do, and everyone else should too.

Re: People buying stuff for the baby already.
People have bought little things and at first i was a little weirded out but now I'm fine with it. I guess I'm not as supersticious as I thought I was.

Re: People buying stuff for the baby already.
Well I can answer from both sides of the spectrum since I had a late loss with my first baby. And I had a TON of stuff already for the baby. It didnt make it any easier nor any harder though to lose my daughter.
SO at first people were superstitious about buying me anything this time around...for me, i was actually fine with it. It is exciting and fun and I cant live thinking what if and bad stuff.

Re: People buying stuff for the baby already.
I put out a "mandate" early on that I did not want ANY baby stuff until I decided if and when I was having a shower.
I allowed pregnancy related stuff, but no baby stuff. I was just feeling (and still feel) too superstitious.
So far, everyone has complied. But I'm sure they have stuff tucked away in their houses!!
