Re: people who moved to Connecticut from NYC

I live in Southwestern CT in Fairfield County. We moved about seven months ago from Forest Hills. I absolutely love living in CT. I'm about an hour from my family in Queens and have a big home for less taxes than LI. My quality of my life has increased since tremendously moving here.

I think where you look in CT depends on where you are planning to work. Towns closer to the city are more money. My husband works in Westchester and CT, so our location works for us. FM if you have any questions.

Re: people who moved to Connecticut from NYC

I actually did the opposite, I grew up in CT. But I would move back instantly if DH would agree. My mom is still up there, as are a lot of my friends.

Check out Shelton, Trumbull, Milford areas too.

thank you so much, yes we read a lot about Fairfield and looks like that's going to be a place we will be looking the most, we def can't buy anything close to the city.

Fairfield is close to the city, but it's one of the more reasonably priced areas. Most houses there for under $500K will have 3 bedrooms, less than 1700 square feet and will be on less than .2 acres. It's very family friendly and the schools are very good.

Re: people who moved to Connecticut from NYC

My brother has a home in Stamford, close to the Merritt Pkway (the train in an hour into the city); it is a quiet neighborhood where he is & they have 1/2 acre of property.

However my niece will start K in another year or so & they are now looking at houses in New Canaan.

They love it up there though.

Re: people who moved to Connecticut from NYC

It really depends on where you want to work/commute too on the area.

I have lived in CT since 2000, feel free to FM me and questionsChat Icon

Closer to NYC you get, the more pricey it is, particularly shoreline of Fairfield county.

Def check out rentnet.com, i used to use that website all the time to gauge school districts, crime stats, median income levels etc.
