People you don't trust offering to watch DC

do you have family members who insist that you can leave the child with them but you are too afraid bc you don't think they can care for your child properly?

I have a few who always insist they would love to watch him...but when I let them feed him they always hand him back to me with 1/3 of the bottle still left over, can't figure out how to work the car seat etc. It's frustrating bc I wish I did have more people who could watch him if I ever needed it but I won't leave him with someone I can't trust to even feed him properly.

I can totally relate!! Chat Icon Dd has reflux and there is one person who keeps insisting to watch her, yet she has only changed one diaper and has not fed her a bottle yet. Everytime I ask her to feed the baby, she says no,no you do it. How do you expect me to leave ger with you if you cannot feed her?

Yes. Sadly one is a very close relative and this person had children, not sure how they dont know what they are doing. Its a miracle their child survived!

THe way Im handling it is im going to drop DS off and have them watch him for a few hours while DH and I get a date night. I figure its only a few hours and someone else will be there with this person so they cant screw up too bad.

This is a major issue with My mil.
She doesn't follow directions. She gave ds a bottle of water before he was allowed when she watched him for 2 hours with strict directions to give milk and not to put to sleep.
We keep trying... She's hard to train because she doesn't listen.

If I did I would just make excuses as to why they couldn't babysit.

This. As far as this person is concerned, we never go anywhere where we need a sitter anyway. (which is sadly almost true...but we do get away once in awhile...I've only left DD with my mom, step mil & FIL, an SIL. I don't trust anyone else right now.)

I don't think you can go by who knows how to work a car seat... even with the bottle, some kids just prefer to be fed by a parent or they aget too distracted around lots of people to eat. I personally have only left DS with my parents, inlaws, and my cousin (who lived with us so DS is in love with her). But that's more because DS cries hysterically if me or DH walk out of the room.

I only let my parents and my brother and gf watch dd. I saw no thanks to everyone else. I could never enjoy myself while I was out if I didn't trust the person caring for dd.
