Permanent certification question
I recently applied for my permanent certification online (via TEACH). I just checked the status and it says I meet all of the requirements for the permanent certification except for the 2 full years of classroom teaching. The thing is, I DO have 2 full years of teaching. I did stop working in a school a few years ago, though. I'm pretty sure this shouldn't matter because I spoke to nysed about it before I stopped working in education to make sure and my provisional cert. hadn't expired yet when I applied.
So my question is do I contact nysed directly about this or my local BOCES? Has this happened to anyone? What proof did they require?
It's strange because when you look at my work history in TEACH, it shows two years teaching experience!

Re: Permanent certification question
I had the same exact thing. I actually had three years. I found an email on there and wrote to them in a very nice way. I wrote that I was concerned that it showed on the site that I was missing the 2 years needed. I detailed where I exactly I worked and from what dates. Not even a week later it was changed and I got my certification a week or two later. I don't know if it was coincidence or what but that's is what happened to me.

Re: Permanent certification question
I had the same problem. I had to get a paper signed (on their website) by my district office in Long Island City.
Even though I had the paperwork, it still said on their website exactly what you saw. When I called the state they said everyone's will say that. it is only a technicality. So I guess they really don't check. I only found this out after I sent in all the paperwork.
What a PITA right?

That is so strange. How annoying! Honestly as long as I get my certification I don't care what TEACH says! I think I will call this week and see if I can check on the overall status. Maybe it will be fine and go through ok..that would be nice
