personal question-car related
Did you finance your car..If so what are your payments. MY DH went to look at a car. We were told our interest would be 7% and our payments $488 a month that is only for a Pilot..I am so stressed. Do you think that is reasonable? Thanks

Re: personal question-car related
I don't have a payment anymore because I paid the car off early. But I put 1,000 down and got 6% interest rate, wound up with a payment of $280ish a month...but that was a car, not SUV.

IMO that is not a bad price for the Pilot. Is it a new pilot or a used Pilot? How many years is the loan? If it is used thats a good interest rate...if it's new then you should see if you can get something lower. The 0% financing however usually comes with terms like 36 month loan so the payments are usually bigger because you don't have much time to pay it off.

Re: personal question-car related
We went with the TFCU. By having a money market with them, it lowered our interest rate.

Re: personal question-car related
Just an FYI...just like the car price, if your credit is good the interest rate should be negotiable. The car dealer makes money if they can sell you a higher rate just like a higher price car or all of the extras.

Re: personal question-car related
shop around for a better interest rate. you can also wait another month or so when the dealers are looking to get rid of the 07 inventory. some car makers started their year end clearance events already, and they will just get better. I think Sept is the best month to buy a car.

Re: personal question-car related
That price sounds about right. We financed a Wrangler for a couple of years and just traded it in for a Pacifica and both were within that range.

Re: personal question-car related
I received a quote for 7.5% interest on a 2007 Elantra yesterday. I can't believe the interest is so high.....I really need a new car (I currently have a 2000 Elantra), but don't want a high interest rate. The salesman told me I "have to move fast". I don't deal with pressure tactics and hate when they say this. Would I HAVE to finance through Hyundai, or can I use my own bank or something? I'm totally new to this.......

PLEASE!
I am in the market for a new car as well but I would absolutely NOT take out a loan at anything near 7%! I will wait it out if I have to.

Re: personal question-car related
That seems kind of high...but like someone else mentioned, if you have good credit, the interest rate is negotiable.
I own my car now...and DH will own his next month. His interest rate is 0% with either $7k or $10k down and payments are $399/month (on an Audi A4).
