Personal Question with poll.

Please do not feel like you need to explain, and I apologize because I do feel this is a personal issue, but I was just curious if you have donated, monetarily or volunteer-wise, to the Red Cross or some other organization to help the victims of Katrina? I know it's personal because some people just do not like to talk about these things.

Re: Personal Question with poll.

I donated... It was a small amount because I dont have much money but its something. Personally, I would feel very guilty going on about my life and not doing anything while these poor people in our own country are suffering.

I also want to donate clothers and food and am looking for places to find to drop off things like this. If anyone hears of any, please post!Chat Icon

I haven't yet.

I actually tried to last night, but I guess the server was so busy that it wasn't going through. I'm going to try again later.

Not yet, b/c I want to see what we are doing at school. But I want to go through my closet too. And I have random things of baby formula, for some reason, that I want to donate.

We donated cash to this, too. And normally, not having much extra cash, we donate through clothes, too. I just felt that in this case, I needed to donate money. Because my seemingly small donation, combined with other people who feel the same probably makes a huge difference!

I agree.. And I personally I feel like just because I donate other things throughout the year, doesnt mean I cant do a small part to help now in this disaster..
Once I go back to school I am going to get my class involved somehow to help...

Re: Personal Question with poll.

I also run the Nation Junior Honor Society in my school, and we will be doing fund raising for this. My kids raised over 2K last year for a local cause, so I know they'll do an awesome job for this!

Re: Personal Question with poll.

yes - we donated to the red cross. I personally feel strongly that the country came to our rescue 4 years ago and now it is my duty to do the same. I am heartbroken at what I see on TV - I wish I could donate way more to help my fellow americans.

Re: Personal Question with poll.

My company's doing a matching so I just sent off my check this morning.

I too normally donate with clothes, etc, but with this, as with the tsunami, I think it's more important to donate $.

Even though we donate money every month, your post moved me and reminded me that more money is needed RIGHT NOW. I just donated more. Thanks for inspiring me to get off my arse!
