Where are the adoption sheters
in Suffolk. A LIF firend mentioned
that could also be an option for

North Shore is having an Adoptathon this weekend with all kinds of activities. They are in Nassau but they usually have a large selection. Might be worth the drive....

i have been looking and
see quite a few lovable dogs.
we will prob see some on sunday
the weather will be just perfect

PS If you know what you want a specific breed, you can find the breed's rescue organization and adopt through them.

Please try to stay clear of NSAL(don't flame, got my cats there) but I think they are too money hungry and overated.

I tend to agree. Plus I have heard too many stories of them not being 100% honest about the breed & making sure the future owner is compatible.

we went to local shelters in the varies townships (Town of Babylon, Town of Hempstead, etc..) We ended adopting a dog from a co-worker who couldn't keep em..

the local pound  poor dogs- i like to support the non-kill shelters but at the same time i feel bad for the doggies in the pound.
then, kent animal shelter was great when my friend adopted a cat from them!
