Re: Petition to FREE Iggy....the dog Ellen had..
"Ellen realized that Iggy was too much energy and was too rambunctious"
HUH????? This statement is horrific in itself. MANY dogs, well into adulthood, are like this. All this does is support people getting dogs, then deciding all too quickly it just isn't gonna work out...and get rid of them. Too many people take dogs that they can't handle, aren't ready for, shouldn't have, probably can't keep or do the right thing by.
Ellen clearly has too much of a carefree attitude about adopting dogs. Supposedly she has done this before. As an animal lover, with a rambunctious difficult little doggie whom I LOVE TO DEATH and would NEVER rehome, I don't like this above statement one bit and gotta give MO on it. Some dogs are like that. They are living breathing creatures with unique personalities and needs so if you can't handle that possibliity (ahem, Ellen) do not get one.
She tries so hard for "2 weeks" then gives up? Wow, what dedication to animals...two whole weeks. Yeah, not gonna work out....2 whole weeks. Uh, don't ever get another dog Ellen. They are not disposable, like, I will try this one out today. Nah, not good, let's rehome this one and try another...dogs are not things we just try out then decide to pass on.

Re: Petition to FREE Iggy....the dog Ellen had..
Sorry, I disagree with this...Mutt's and Mom's will place Iggy in a good home - not a home of Ellen's choice.
This has gotten way out of hand.
ETA: BTW, none of us really "knows" Ellen and she has a history of rehoming dogs, so think before you sign.

Re: Petition to FREE Iggy....the dog Ellen had..
This is getting out of hand and I am not even sure how I feel about it anymore. I thought the shelter had placed the dog in a new home already?
Although I feel bad for the little girls, I don't think the puppy should be displaced again.

sorry, no signature here.
The dog is NOT in a shelter, Iggy is already placed in another home, and does not need to be "freed".
While I do feel badly about the situation and while most of the time I love Ellen, I don't agree with what happened or how she is handling it now.
Conversely, I also don't agree with the way the shelter handled it either, but the rules are the rules.

ITA. Ellen had no right to use her show as a forum on this issue. She broke the rules and is crying because she feels responsible for what happened. Well, that is because she is responsible for what happened. The agency did not handle it 100% correctly but in the end, they are doing good things for animals and I refuse to sign anything like this.

Great points, people please think about all sides of this (esp the shelter's side) before you sign.

I don't agree with giving pets away when you feel like it. They aren't sweaters.
Plus - Ellen does have a history of getting dogs and giving them away. Just because some people think she is famous doesn't mean she can do what she wants.
And IMO her little crying fit on TV was ridiculous.

ITA 2!! She has done this a few times with dogs. I have a dog and cat too...neither one I would ever give up..although it makes for a hectic life I love both and spend time with them..I would never give Jasmine back! I agree while the whole thing is outta hand I think Ellen was in the wrong by placing all these animals she does not want...JMHO

This is very common in Hollywood. Lot's of celebrities take pets from places like Mutt's and Mom's and find good homes for them.
