Re: Philadelphia
I responded to the other thread, but my recommendation is to stay in the Rittenhouse area - the Sheraton or Latham are nice.
Things to do - shopping and dining around the Rittenhouse Square area is amazing.
Nightlife is centered around Olde City (mainly Second Street between Market and Chestnut)
Try out some of the Steven Starr restaurants in Philly (you can google it) if you're venturesome
Places to see - liberty bell, betsy ross house, Elferth's alley (oldest row of homes on the East Coast - really adorable), boathouse row, eastern state penitentiary (historic prison - pretty cool), south street (not so nice anymore, turning ghetto), boathouse row, franklin institute, art museum, Rodin museum - those are my favorites in the city.
To add - my favorite, favorite restaurant in the city is Bistro La Baie, on 17th and Lombard - it's a tiny, italian, fairly inexpensive BYOB - the food is so fresh and incredibly yummy. If you happen to be vegetarian, I have a list of yummy veggie restaurants in philly.

Thanks for the tips!
I am a fish-eating "vegetarian" so I will definitely take you up on the recommendations - thanks!

Here ya go!
My favorite is Horizons Cafe 611 S. 7th Street http://www.horizonsphiladelphia.com/ Totally vegan, from the appetizers to the desserts, and TOTALLY yummy
My second favorite is Vesuvios 736-38 S 8th St It's an italian vegetarian restaurant, which is hard to find, and the best part is they have a non-vegetarian menu and a matching vegetarian/vegan menu so you can eat with friends who aren't vegetarian (the vegetarian meatballs are the BEST)
Citrus 8136 Germantown Avenue (in the Chestnut Hill area of philly - if you're venturesome) Another BYOB, REALLY REALLY good vegetarian food
Cafette 8136 Ardleigh St Also in the Chestnut Hill area - really, REALLY yummy, but not totally vegetarian menu
Ariana 134 Chestnut St Afghani restaurant - not totally vegetarian, but they have a vegetarian section of the menu.
Samosa Indian Vegetarian Cuisine Fully vegetarian Indian restaurant - Buffet 1214 Walnut Street
Kingdom of Vegetarians Chinese 129 N 11th St They will make any traditional chinese dish, but vegetarian

So am I You'll be able to eat virtually anywhere in the city as long as you eat fish. Again, my favorite restaurant is Bistro La Baie, on 17th & Lombard.
Penn's View, I don't know what the rooms are like, but it's a great location, right in the middle of Olde City - you can walk out the door and you're in the middle of the Philadelphia night-life and really fine dining. The best restaurants are centered around Market/Chestnut, Between Front and 3rd Street.
Omni Hotel - again, I don't know the rooms, but it's in the Olde City area, just like Penn's view - nice area
Park Hyatt is in a crappy area - it's in the center of the city, but it's on Broad Street - which is kind of yucky and busy.

I googled the Sheraton Rittenhouse Square hotel and can't find anything - I think it may have changed hands, but you can always call Sheraton and ask. The other good Sheraton is the Sheraton Society Hill.
If you want to stay in the Rittenhouse area, the Westin is also nice, as well as the Sofitel. The Four Seasons gets great ratings, and I've been there (gorgeous) but it's mucho expensive, and it's on a crappy street - right on the parkway. Same with the Ritz-Carlton - GORGEOUS, new hotel, but really expensive, and on Broad Street, which is kind of icky.
For the society hill area/olde city area, they built a new Hyatt that's supposed to be gorgeous, and it's right on the water (had a friend who was supposed to get married there, parents put a $40k deposit, and then canceled the wedding the week before! )
