Pill Question!

Ladies,
I am going to Mexico next week for a wedding! Yay, except that I am expecting my period the day before we leave and it will not go away until the day we are leaving :( I am on the pill...has anyone tried to take the next pack right away to prevent your period from coming that month? A friend of mine tried and it didn't really work (although she is not on the same pill as me). ANy thoughts? I would LOVE to not have it there!!

Re: Pill Question!

Not with the pill- but I took out and replaced the nuvaring a few days early and skipped it for my honeymoon.

HTH.

Just keep taking the active pills instead of moving to the placebos. It should work fine.

Did it, had a tiny bit of spotting. No problems afterwards.

Re: Pill Question!

Not sure wht pill you're on... but if you take the kind that has three active rows and one inactive row, skip the inactive pills and start a new pack right away. I did this for my honeymoon, no probs.

Re: Pill Question!

It should work if your pills are all identical & all have the same level of hormones. If you have the triphasic kind - different pills for different weeks (orthotricyclen comes to mind) - it may not work.

Re: Pill Question!

I've done it many times. My OB actually said it was fine to do every once and a while. I just felt alittle bloated the day I was supposed to get it... but besides that...no problems.

Re: Pill Question!

I have done it several times. In fact, I did it for my HM and our first anniversary trip. Worked like a charm everytime and my doctor said it's perfectly fine.

Re: Pill Question!

My gynocologist suggested instead of taking a whole new pack, just take the third set of pills again (I'm on Orthotricyclin lo), and you will just delay your period by a week and will not have spotting. I tried it and it works!

Re: Pill Question!

Thanks girls..I will ask my doc, too. I am on the triphasic kind, i think, so maybe i should try the third week thing...as long as I can get the refill in time for the month after!! Darn those insurance companies. Thanks for your advice!!

I've done this a few times and it works fine to put it off for a week.
