PIN NUMBER REVERSAL (GOOD TO KNOW)
Good Information to have as the holidays are approaching
If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from
an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse.
For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321. The ATM
recognizes
that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the
machine.
The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the
robber,
the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.
This information was recently broadcasted on TV and it states that it is
seldom used
because people don't know it exists.

thanks for posting this.
My dad got this as an e-mail the other day and he thinks it true. I told how could that be possible. If that's the case they should install a 911/Emergency button to hit in a case like that.

I think we could do that on the alarm at my house- and then the police would come
it's a good idea- there should be some way to notify for help

What if your PIN was 1111? (OK, first, you should probably change your pin anyways....), but technically you would be entering it in backwards every time.

It's based on a true thing, someone did think this system up and patented it but banks never caught on. What would you do if your PIN was 1221? If you do it backwards...its 1221. So right there you have a problem.
I think that banks should ask people to always make up a PIN that is not a "Palendrome" sequence like 1221 and also to do this backwards thing, because it's a good way to dispatch the police. However by the time the police got there you and/or the bankrobber can be long gone.

Too many pitfalls with that. If you code is 1321, how many of us would accidentally swap the 2 and 3 on occassion? I'd hate to have the cops show up just because my brain didn't work that day!
