Pins and Needles in my leg and dizziness??

So last night I woke up in the middle of the night and my upper left leg had pins and needles...i wasn't sleeping on it weird...in fact i was sleeping on my back. This happened a couple of times before.

Has any ones else experienced anything like this? DH thinks i should call the DR. It doesnt happen every night. I don't know if it's anything I should be concerened about? Or if it's even related to being pregnant. Just curious.

Also, last night i had a severe headache and a moment of extreme dizziness...do you think this is all normal?

Sounds like it's caused by poor blood circulation, both the leg and the dizziness. Just get up very slowly. We have circulation issues in my family so I'm very careful about how I sit, lie, etc. I posted the following from babycenter.com yesterday on another post. You should talk to your doctor about it but maybe the following will help for now?

What you can do about it
During the first half of your pregnancy, it's a good idea to start training yourself to sleep on your left side whenever you can. This position benefits your baby by maximizing the flow of blood and nutrients to the placenta. It also helps your kidneys efficiently eliminate waste products and fluids from your body, which in turn reduces swelling in your ankles, feet, and hands. Sleeping on your right side is fine, too. You'll probably need to alternate between your left and right side to remain comfortable. (If you wake up at night and find yourself on your stomach or back, don't worry — you haven't done any harm to your baby. Just roll back onto your side.)

Here's how many pregnant women feel most comfortable in bed: Lie on your left side with your knees bent and put a pillow between your knees. Arrange other pillows under your belly and behind your back for extra comfort and support. You can buy special maternity pillows for this purpose, though you may find that regular pillows work just as well. If you suffer from heartburn or breathlessness, you may also find it helpful to prop your upper body up a bit. In your third trimester, wearing a sleeping bra and a maternity belt can give extra support to your breasts, belly, and back.

A final tip: If lying on your side puts too much pressure on your hips, buy a soft egg-crate foam mattress pad. The egg-carton-shaped layer goes on top of your mattress and under the sheet and regular mattress pad for added comfort and air-circulation and is available in a range of sizes.

ETA: You may want to check to see if you are getting enough potassium (leg cramps) and calcium. There were numerous times throughout my pregnancy I was waking in the middle of the night with terrible calf cramps and eating a banana or two.

This pregnancy I get that pins and needles all the time esp in my 1st trimester. I didn't have it last time. My doctor said it is normal but if it continues or gets worse to let her know and to watch it. I would mostly get it in my sleep real bad but I even got it sitting in the dr waiting room reading a magazine or just typing on the computer. It has lightened up in the last few weeks but I do still get it when I stay in one place too long (like on he computer or sitting watching tv) but not as much in my sleep.

Re: Pins and Needles in my leg and dizziness??

I wake up with pins and needles almost every night in my arms and hands. I think it has to do with the swelling causing poor blood circulation. I also get leg cramps alot. I am in my 3rd trimester and also get dizzy spells. The dr. said it is from the increase blood flow and my heart working harder now. Laying on your back can also cause dizziness b/c the baby is laying on a major artery (or is it a vein???).
