PIO shot Q
Last nights shot really hurt, and I think I've built up a decent pain threshold. Some nights I barely feel the whole thing
Today the area is hard and itchy and still hurts - why is that and what can I do to get better?

They do hurt, yes some days hurt more than others. You will get bumps where the injection site is, and may not go away for awhile. Are you switching sides?? My best advice is...take a wet rag and microwave it so it gets hot...put it on the injection site for a few minutes then inject the needle. The oil will go in more easy and wont hurt

Re: PIO shot Q
Helen,
I have the same thing.
Some days I don't feel it at all, other days it hurts like a monkey and gets bumpy and itchy the next day.
Someone told me that the bumpy, itchy ones mean you aren't always getting into the muscle far enough and it's entering the subcutaneous fat. But I have no medical verification on that!

Re: PIO shot Q
my heating pad was my best friend. Switch sides every night, heat the area before and after and then massage after the shot.
I got the same itches and lumps and the heating pad helped a ton.
In the pain in the azz, no pun intended, bc you can't always get it in the correct spot and that's when it tends to hurt more.

Re: PIO shot Q
That's funny -- I put an ice pack on before putting the shot it, and warm up the PIO in my hand or under a lamp. Make sure DH pulls the skin taught. Then I used the heating pad AFTER the shot.
I don't have any bumps or sores.
