Pity Party – First Day of school

Ugh!

UGH and UGH!!!!

First off everyone got up super early today because not only was it AJ’s first day of school but I’m helping a coworker out who has no car so I’m picking her up. She was ok mostly. Just a little tired. We’ve been talking up school for days now.

She gets to school and skips up to the door happy as a bumble bee. Inside they school has adopted 4 finches who are set up in two separate cages (some college bird song project they needed to adopt out the birds, our school accepted 4) plus they have a fish tank now out front too. AJ is thrilled. “Its like a zoo”

Then..

People saw her.. *sigh* AJ!!! Oh look its AJ! And two teachers came out to say hi and see if she’s grown etc. All excited and happy but too much for AJ. She’s the type to likes to be the one to initiate contact. She doesn’t like being rushed up to by kids and especially adults.

So after plastering herself onto my back thigh we walk over to her class. She was fine through the great room and up to the door then it was now the kids who rushed her. So she’s now nearly in tears. Worst thing is, I need to leave. She sat in my lap and gave me a hug and a kiss. She said be good at work and I had to leave her with Daddy.

I called 10mins later on his cell. It was bad. He stayed a few more minutes but he too had to leave.

So she cried and cried and finally grabbed her tinkerbell blanket (for naps) pushed her face into it and just sobbed. That's his last image of the day.

School officially begins August 13th. She has school today / Friday, Monday & Tuesday then starts up full time on August 13th. I am hoping after these 4 days she’ll be less dramatic at drop offs.

Hasn't she been in school for a few years now? Is it usually hard for her the first day of school? I would totally call if I were you just to check and make sure she is ok. Hope you have a better drop off tomorrow!!

She's been in 'school' since 4m but she is taken out during the summer so we don't have to pay that tuition. So she's been out of school 2m, right now. So its her first day back since May.

I called, she cheered up within the hour or so and has settled in fine. *sigh* hopefully tomorrow is better at drop off.
