Pixie cut for curly hair

I have tight curls and have always warn it anywhere from chin length to past my shoulder blades. Lately I haven't wanted to style it due to the copious amount of product I have to use (it's now just below shoulder length) and have just been sticking it in a ponytail. I was thinking about doing something really drastic like a pixie cut style but anytime I've ever mentioned it to anyone I somehow get talked out of it and stick with just "short" chin length. Anyone with curls ever successfully pull of this length?

Not pixie but I have a Bob. I'd actually find shorter hair harder to style than longer but I've always wondered about a pixie

I wasn't the one, but it was a girl in high school, if you have the face for pixie it will look cute... Some people just don't have a face for pixie.

Re: Pixie cut for curly hair

I love a pixie cut. My mom almost always has one but she has pin straight hair.

I have curls, and when I go short (shoulder is as short as I go now) I tend to straighten it. When it's curly, I end up looking like little orphan Annie. My cousins has tight curls and does pixie - she straightens it. Which is easy bc it's not much hair.

Like PP said - if you have the shape face to pull it off, go for it. It'll grow back if you're not thrilled. But you may love it !

Re: Pixie cut for curly hair

From someone with long curly hair - the thought of a pixie gives me immediate anxiety -

you don't just need the right face, you need the right HAIR for certain cuts. A pixie is not going to work with curly hair, and amount of product you need has to do with what you're using, and your hair's texture, not really the length - You may end up needing MORE product with a short 'do

Pixie would not work for me. My mom has sorta a pixie and it looks like orphan Annie like pp said. Lol never made that connection till now.

I started using miss Jessie's jelly curls and its life changing. Pricey but worth every penny. I think it was created with African American hair in mind but it works great on my mixed European curls. HTH

Pixie cut for curly hair

My MIL has very short curly hair and she needs to blow it out every day , which I would find annoying.

pixies can look super cute with curly hair but if you are looking to avoid using products, then I'd definitely avoid it! With short cuts like that (and especially curly hair) you absolutely have to "do it" every day, which usually involves products, unless you skip some washes (and still then you need to refresh the curls with some water and primping). That being said, if you wanna mix it up, go for it!

Just some food for thought...

The problem with a lot of those fun, touseled, assymetrical pixies is that they actually require a lot of styling and maintenance. Plus you have to have the right hair and face for it.

It's not easy to wear a pixie let alone with curly hair. You have to style it too and will need frequents trims. It's almost harder than having long hair because you have to style it or it will looks very unkempt

Re: Pixie cut for curly hair

I feel like curly and pixie don't go together. Remember with curly hair the shorter you go, the wider it is.

Re: Pixie cut for curly hair

I wouldn't consider it if your hair is super curly. That cut is no bueno for most with naturally curly hair.
