pizza party- suggestions
thinking of having friends over Sunday evening. I received pizza stones for the grill that I'm dying to use! Going to try my best to keep it light- pizza/flatbreads and wine
Went to a couple awesome vineyards upstate 2 weekends ago and picked up fantastic wine that I want to share with my closest.
What kind of toppings should I have?
my list so far:
figs
goat cheese
onions
smoked mozz
arugula
truffled honey
What is the best pizza you've ever had?
Should I have some apps in addition to the pizza? if so, what?
( everyone will be making their own so its more fun )

I would pick up sliced black olives, I like shallots instead of onions (a little sweeter), fresh tomatoes (instead of tomato sauce)... Garlic 
What vineyards did you go to?

only did a quick 5 min tasting at brotherhood since we went late. cant wait to go back and try more. place is awesome!

Brotherhood makes a port that is outstanding - I loved using it in my sauces because it had a sweetness to it.

Slivered almonds surprising are great with the figs, honey, goat cheese style. Maybe traditional fresh mozz too (I'm not big on smoked personally). Sliced tomatoes, basil, shaved parmesan, some thin sliced meats like prosciutto, maybe grilled chicken, hot sauce, siracha, crumbled blue cheese, caramelized onions. I could probably go on and on!
I would definitely recommend testing it out beforehand. I always had trouble with the pizza stone bc I don't have a peel so I either couldn't preheat the stone or couldn't get the pizza on easily. I recently read to assemble the pizza on parchment paper and slide it onto a flat or upside down cookie sheet so you can slide it right onto the hot stone and it worked perfectly!

Def need to have proscuitto! I had this amazing pizza with a spicy salami and the pizza was drizzled with honey. The sweet and spicy was insanely delicious.

my favorite pizzas always contain black olives. don't know why they just do. I love veggie type pizzas, so olives, shallots or onions, fresh bell peppers, fresh mushrooms, etc.
and most importantly...
FRESH BASIL AND A LOT OF IT!!!
I could make an entire pizza out of sauce and fresh basil.
with some olives of course lol.

Sounds fun. I agree with the Prosciutto recommendation.

I agree with getting lots of fresh basil!
My favorite flat bread is grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella, basil, red peppers and a touch of pesto...sooo good!!!!

YES! I recently had this ridiculously delicious flat bread. It had mozzarella, asiago, prosciutto, dried cherries balsamic glaze. Mmmmmm!
Also love grilled chicken, ranch dressing, bacon, cheddar.
Buffalo chicken! I make a crockpot of shredded buffalo chicken, put it on top of the flatbread and then add cheese of your liking on top (most like bleu but I hate it). Drizzle ranch or blue cheese dressing if you want.
Also, the grilled flat bread, add arugula, goat cheese and craisins & that balsamic glaze again.
I love spinaccoli pizza. make a bachemel, smear all over crust, add chopped broccoli, garlic, spinach and mozzarella/cheddar combo. OMG delish.

I agree about regular mozzarella, I really don't like smoked. We have also done pesto pizza on the grill- just pesto sauce (I usually mix it with some ricotta) and slices of fresh mozzarella.
As for appetizers, I would probably do bruschetta and tapenade, a few Italian meats, a couple of cheeses and sliced bread. I would also serve a salad with the pizza.

(If you like fresh Italian bread dipped in white clam sauce, this is your pizza!) fresh shucked & chopped local clams, garlic butter spread, fresh herbs, parsley garnish
Also a dessert one with Nutella and sweet Ricotta and chocolate chips! Sprinkle the crust with a little sugar

It is! We go to the one in Westhampton but they are also located at Pizzetteria Brunetti 626 Hudson St. Hands down best pizza's and definitely easy to recreate some of them at home.

Sounds like a great party!
At a bbq last week, I had a grilled pizza with mashed potatoes, grilled scallions, rosemary and truffle oil. It was sublime!
In addition to the pizza, I'd serve a green salad...
Don't forget dessert pizzas!!

for the apps, I'd do a salad or veggies/dip or stuffed mushrooms or shrimp cocktail or dried fruit and nuts. I don't like filling up on the usual bread or cheese before a pizza party since it's like pretty much the same thing.

Jewel in Melville has their "millionaire pizza" and it is awesome, i am also obsessed with truffle though! They aslo have a raw tuna pizza that I am dying to try... next time!
i make a honey, goat cheese and apple quesadilla that is awesome, i bet it would be a good pizza too.
bacon cheddar ranch? fried chicken, bacon, ranch and cheddar cheese
buffalo chicken with gorgonzola and mozz?
what about a dessert pizza with nutella and fruit?
