Planet Fitness... yay or nay?
i'm actively looking for a gym.
i found a small local gym that is literally behind our house. they offer group classes, but you have to pay an arm and a leg for training. from what i've read/heard, planet fitness offers free training.
those who have gone, what do you think of planet fitness?
i'd love classes, but i believe that training is what i NEED.
any input would be helpful. thanks

It depends on the club so you are going to have to ask people closer to you. The one I go to fitness trainer sucks but a friend asked the same question on fb who lives about 10 hours from me and got positive responses for the one by her.

Planet Fitness... yay or nay?
I am a member of planet fitness. It has what I need: free weights and cardio machines. I do a decent amount of cardio and follow the bbg training guide. My PF has had 3 trainers in the past year. One was there for a while - well over a year and left - I'm assuming she finished her degree and got a real job as she was in her mid 20s. The other two were/are very young - probably 20. I do not feel as though the people I see get a good workout when they train with them. The two women who use the program are not in terrible shape, but I never feel like the trainer pushes them. I have seem excellent trainers at other gyms I have belonged to; these trainers are not awesome.... I honestly could set up better workout plans than the personal trainers based on what I have researched myself.

Planet Fitness... yay or nay?
thanks for the feedback.
SO and i went to the local PF, yesterday. we were given a quick tour and looked around. i was told that they are making changes and will be adding group classes to their offerings. the young man didn't know what type of classes, but he said they would probably be the "basics"... yoga, zumba, etc.
i think we might go with PF because we will be able to go at any time and go together. i'll be deciding this weekend.

From what I know, the trainers are just young people that like working out. They are not educated/certified trainers. If you're looking for a guide, I'm sure it's fine. If you're looking for a trainer, you're not going to get that for free. There is no way it compares to a real trainer that you pay a much deserved higher price for.
