Plants/ shrubs for little to no sunlight
Are there any plants or shrubs that can grow with basically no direct sunlight ?

There are a lot! Your landscaper should be able to make recommendations for what works well at your house. Or, go to a garden center (like Hicks) and ask there.

Hostas, ferns, begonias. There's a whole lot of stuff.
Google "Shade Gardens" and that should show you some ideas of what to plant.
