Plaque build-up or staining on front baby teeth?
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has a hard time brushing DSs teeth, so maybe someone else has seen the same thing. DS lets me brush his molars and front bottoms with no problem. But his top 2 front teeth I can hardly ever get. He gets and iron lip of them and I can't pry it back to clean them. The last couple of weeks, when he smiles, at the top along the gumline, there are dark spots on his teeth. I was thinkging it was plaque buildup, but I don't know what to do since he won't let me brush there? What does everyone else's kids who fight brushing see on their teeth?
Then DH looks and says it looks like staining from the vitamin (its the same kind of color, but he's been on this vitamin for a long time and we're only really seeing this now). Is this possible?
Oh, and DS is 22 months and has not been to a dentist yet. I was planning on taking him in July when he gets added to my insurance plan.

Sounds like it's vitamin staining to me. I've seen this on a few patients. If it is your hygienist can polish it off for you

Re: Plaque build-up or staining on front baby teeth?
DS had staining from his vitamins at one point, it did go away in time, though I thought his teeth were rotting away also!
Sorry, I don't have many tricks that work to share. DS sometimes lets us brush, sometimes not. It seems to help to hold him in front of the mirror so he can see what is happening. Then I let him brush a little (mostly he chews on the toothbrush), then I try again. Some days nothing works though, and I try to get the fronts of his teeth with a washcloth. Or I just skip it if I suspect he is teething and in pain.
