Re: Plastic Bottles vs. Glass

The only reason that I didn't register for glass is that when I went to BRU to check them out, the bigger glass bottles (8 oz.) were SO heavy! I got dr. brown's bpa free instead, though I do still love glass.

Re: Plastic Bottles vs. Glass

We registered for and received the glass Dr. Brown's...but I'm starting to rethink them. I'm all about convenience, and let's face it...glass bottles are a bit of a pain when it comes to warming up a bottle. Chat Icon

My DS used to throw, drop, bop himself in the head with his bottles, so I don't know how people use them...My MIL told me they used to sell little padded sleeve type things for them when glass was all they had, do they still make anything like that I wonder ???

i try to stay away from plastics in general, so this time around i am going to start off with glass. when DD starts to grab a hold of them and throw them across the room, well, then i'll switch to the BPA free plastics.

Re: Plastic Bottles vs. Glass

I got glass b/c I like that they are more sturdy and durable. The plastic can get scratches in them from the bottle brush, so I opted not to use plastic at all until DS wason sippy cups. I will re-use the glass bottles for this baby as well.

Re: Plastic Bottles vs. Glass

I will tell you this. I have the Evenflo glass bottles. When DD was a NB, and mom came to stay with me for a few days, she dropped one of the bottles on the ceramic floor....

I CRINGED.

Would you believe NOTHING HAPPENED TO IT????????????? I was astounded to say the least!

I will say that I do have both plastic and glass though.

Glass Evenflo
Plastic Gerber
Glass Dr. Brown's (which I hate b/c they are only up to 7oz)
Plastic Born Free
Glass Born free

I think that's it.... I was on the hunt to find which bottle would give my daughter the least amount of gas issue when she was suffering from it.

I use the Dr. Browns glass. Love them. They now make BPA Free dr. Browns too so I may get one since it will be easier for DS to hold it by himself now that he is 7 months old.

I have these too and feel the same way!! I love the glass bottles and I am very happy with my decision... i know they dont hold the 8oz, but DD doesnt even eat that much yet, and when she is old enough to hold them on her own i'll switch to the Dr Browns BPA free ones...

Re: Plastic Bottles vs. Glass

I was told when it comes to storing breast milk glass is better...but as long as the bottle is BPA free..you have no thing to worry about..I use the glass..and they work great..however when she gets older I would have to go to the plastic bottles..

Re: Plastic Bottles vs. Glass

I'm going to use glass bottles. I plan on BF as much as possible and pumping when I go back to work so hopefully we won't need too many but I feel like glass is safest.
