Play kitchen - Little Tykes or Step 2?

I'm getting my son a play kitchen for the holidays and was planning on getting the Little Tykes Serve and Sizzle Kitchen. Well, I just read some reviews and people were complaining of the quality and saying the doors don't stay shut. I really liked this one because it was "boyish."

Does anyone have a play kitchen that they like? Is one company make better quality toys than the other?

I just ordered a step 2 kitchen for DD for xmas...I LOVE all of the step 2 items we have (and we have a ton) they are high quality.

I like Little Tikes a lot but Step 2 kitchens have better reviews on quality than Little Tikes. Like "heavier", not flimsy, etc... Little tikes is a great brand though.

HOLY CRAP!!!!!! I have to tell you that we actually bought the same kitchen you asked about. We thought it was boyish and with DH always grilling, I thought it would be great!

Well, that TRU sale ad said it was for 2 years+. We got to TRU and it was actually 3+. (This made a HUGE difference for us, since DS is only 14 months right now.) We looked FOREVER and still decided to buy it. (For us to pick up the next day.) Well, before we picked it up we looked online at Amazon.com and Walmart.com. (Thanks to smdl) We found other kitchens more appropriately priced and more appropriate for his age.

We went back to TRU and asked for our money back before we even picked up the kitchen. We ordered one and it should be here any day now, for much less than the original Little Tikes we first 'bought'. I had always heard the step 2 were fabulous and I should've trusted my gut. But it all worked out and we are awaiting out walmart purchase of the step 2 kitchen!
