Playtex Ventaire Advanced Bottles - Come in if you use them!
DH HATES them because it takes Jordan so long to drink from them! Seriously, almost half hours for a few ounces - which does suck in the middle of the night! I really do think that they are helping his belly stay in check though - has not spit up in prob a week. He has been using a Born Free bottle that we got as a sample during night feedings because he hates how long it takes.
Anyone else in same boat?

We switched from Ventaire to Born Free because DS was having a lot of gas issues with the Ventaires. He finishes the bottles much quicker too, I think it's because it is a softer nipple.

we switched from Ventaire to drop ins. Same less gas promoting but you can get the softer nipples

In the beginning it takes ALL babies forever to drink regardless of the bottle they are using. I know it stinks,e specially in the middle of the night. Trust me, within a couple of weeks, his sucking ability will improve.

Re: Playtex Ventaire Advanced Bottles - Come in if you use them!
We have the Playtex Ventaires. Since they only make the Slow and Fast nipples for them (no idea why), I tried Dr.Brown's nipples - and they fit. They come in different levels - try a faster level.
eta I do agree though it does take them a loooong time when they are newborns. But you can try 1 level up on the Dr.B's - it can't hurt.

OK - I know I'm new to all of this - but aren't the nipples slower for newborns for a reason?

you will know if the baby isn't ready. by mistake i put the FAST nipples on once or twice and both times em coughed and i knew immediately something was wrong.... she also drooled like a psychopath with that level nipple. i just KNEW it was wrong.
it can't hurt to try. the baby may need a level 2 nipple. yes, they make them for a reason, but no two babies are the same!

Re: Playtex Ventaire Advanced Bottles - Come in if you use them!
DS has no problems drinking from them. There are times he can suck one dry in 5 minutes. Other times he seems to be sucking and nothing is coming out. That is when I take the bottle out and put a binky in...

Re: Playtex Ventaire Advanced Bottles - Come in if you use them!
I disliked them for two reasons:
1. the writing (ie measurements) came off easily 2. they leaked
when I have baby #2, I'm not using them.
I will give kudos to playtex though. When I called to complain about the writing coming off from washing, they sent me boxes to return my bottles, 3 new bottles & coupons for new bottles (which I was able to use towards sippys)
I personally ended up using good old fashion evenflo plastic bottles. Love them!!

Yes there is a reason that newborn nipples are slower. Formula should be introduced at a reasonable flow for their body to physically handle.
I can't imagine how my stomach would feel if someone were to force me to eat at a pace that my body could not tolerate. I would not be a happy camper after that. I would probably complain and be gassy.
In my opinion, if you go to bigger nipples the formula will simply be dumped into their system. Their need to suck in order to soothe will not be fulfilled

we had the same problem with the writing & they sent us coupons as well.
ours never leaked - you have to put the pieces together when they are 100% dry - otherwise they do leak a bit...

Re: Playtex Ventaire Advanced Bottles - Come in if you use them!
we switched from ventaire to NUK and he started eating a lot more. but its true at the early age it takes them about 30 minutes to drink a bottle. if you feel he can handle it, get the Dr. Browns Level 2 nipples. they fit. we switched because the bottles started to leak and now im really happy with the NUK bottles.

Mine never leak unless you put the bottom clear plastic vent on unevenly. Otherwise they are fine. I never had any problem with the writing coming off but I remember it happening to Jess. I think the newer ones - the Clear ones are better.

The only times they leak for us is when I don't let the rubber pieces in the bottom dry completely....

Re: Playtex Ventaire Advanced Bottles - Come in if you use them!
I have one ventaire bottle b/c a friend raved that it helped gas and spit up. (haven't noticed a difference) Come to think of it DD takes FOREVER when we use that bottle instead of the Born Free. I'm still a fan of the drop ins!!
