Please critique my block party menu
Our block party is this Saturday, we will have about 25 adults and 8 kids from age 3 to 14. I want to make sure I have enough of a variety of stuff and that I won't be cooking all day - a lot of it I will make before the party. TIA!
-homemade spinach dip/veggies -grilled veggie bruscetta/pita chips -tortilla chips and regular/corn salsa -one other kind of chip just to have out
-grilled BBQ chicken breasts (will pre-make and have at room temperature) -mini-hamburgers/cheeseburgers - I ordered 60 3-inch rolls - is this enough? How much ground beef do I need? -london broil (2 big ones) -grilled sausage and peppers (I will do the peppers and onions in the morning and just grill the sausages during the party)
ETA: Also making pesto pasta salad and melon/prosciutto salad.
do I need hot dogs for the kids?
People are bringing desserts but I will probably pick up a carrot sheet cake or something like that. And someone is sending an Edible Arrangement.

Re: Please critique my block party menu
definitely get hot dogs.
I think if you have hot dogs, you have enough burgers...though maybe get a third pack of buns as a back up.
depending on how 'mini' I would allot for about 2 oz of meat per burger (2 x 30 = 60 oz/ 16= roughly 4 lbs)
maybe have a green salad and a pasta salad/macaroni salad.
I would skip the london broil altogether if you are doing sausage and peppers acutally...KIS.
have a GREAT time!
(dont' forget to get MUCHO ice!)

That's sounds like a good menu!! I agree with Ophelia, I would do a green salad and a pasta salad. I also would do a non-mayo based pasta salad because it will keep better in the heat.

Re: Please critique my block party menu
Totally forgot I'm also making a pesto pasta salad and a melon and prosciutto salad. I'll edit my post. Thanks ladies!
Should I get more mini rolls? I feel like people will easily snarf down 2-3 sliders with no problem.

Re: Please critique my block party menu
Personally, I like something bready with spinach dip. I would serve chunks of bread instead or in addition to veggies.
Agree with skipping the london broil.
Room temperature chicken breast sounds dangerous, but Im a nut about "food safety"
It sounds delish though, can I come??

Yeah, I always put out some pumpernickel bread with the spinach dip and veggies. And I didn't mean actual room temp, just that I'll grill it the night before and leave it in the fridge until right before we eat - I just meant not hot, KWIM? I think I will skip the london broil.
And sure you can come! the more the merrier LOL.

Def hot dogs for the kids -- and adults for that matter. Hotdogs always go when we BBQ because everyone will "just have one" either before they eat or with their food.
Everythings sounds delish!
