Please Help - Laundry detergent spilled all over kitchen floor

I don't know how this happened, but an entire bottle of laundry detergent spilled all over the kitchen floor. DH has been mopping for hours, but it hasn't done anything, it is so sticky and soapy and concentrated.

Any advice about what to try????

This happened to me. Unfortunately you have to sop it up with towels not a mop. Then put those towels into the wash-but do it slowly so you don't ahve a soap overload-mix it with unsoapy stuff. It is such a PITA

that's never happened to me but what if you spread something like salt all over so that it absorbs it and you can scoop it up? is that crazy? just an idea. good luck - i hate when unexpected accidents take over your day.

Its all over the place! It was in the closet, so not only is on the floor, but it is all over the stuff in the closet!

Thanks for the tips.

What finally worked? DH mopping and mopping and using paper towels for several hours. He tried vinegar and bleach, not sure if it made a difference. He decided against the kitty litter b/c by the time i suggested it he had half of it cleaned up already.

Thanks everyone.

The vinegar probably helped a little. It cuts through soap. I use it for cleaning out the soap reside in shampoo & body wash bottles before I recycle them.

Glad you got it cleaned up.
