Please help me decide! Yes.. it's about swingsets!

What do you think is the best "deal"?

value
quality
resale "potential"

Wood swingset:
$300
$100 Shipping and Handling
Total: $400 + tax
2-10 years
Most likely will have to replace with a "Better" swingset after a few years.

Little Tikes swingset
$400 (a generous mom is mailing me a 15% coupon so it will be $340)
Total: $360 + tax
2-6 years
I think it's really resaleable (right?)
Will need to buy a bigger swingset in a few years

TIA

There isn't much of a price difference between the two.

I would personally hold out a year or two and get one that I REALLY wanted and that would last a LONG time! Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Daily walks to the park to wear him out. Good for mommy - good for EJ!

Seriously though, that's our plan for this summer. I personally want to get one of those monster swingsets that everyone (YOU! Chat Icon ) have been posting. I think that we will buy it next year with next years tax check (like how I have it spent already? Chat Icon ) Chat Icon It's not like those Little Tykes ones were $150. Then I would say go for it. But they are still pretty expensive for something they will outgrow in two years. KWIM?! Chat Icon

I know it's $$$ even for that small swingset. But couldn't I sell it later? I thought people bought them on Craigslist.

The swingset I really want are about $1600 so that's out for now.

I don't have a park near me. Where do you go? I walk in my neighborhood so far.

Maybe you would love that small swingset if you came with Jack for playdates. Chat Icon

If I reason it out, I would probably buy the wood one unless it is an unknown brand. It is supposed to last a bit longer and just in case money becomes tight, because we never really know what MIGHT happen in our lives, you will have something that DS can use for a few years. I would not count on reselling in a few years. What if there are all kinds of safety standard changes and people don't want used ones or you decide you are not comfortable selling it in it's condition after a few years? Ok, so that is my rational answer. My gut tells me you should go with the Little Tikes one, though. Chat Icon Just promise you will be here to help me next year when I have to buy one!!!!

Ok, so why don't you check craigslist for either one of them?
We have a step 2 one that was given to us. It has a slide about 4ft tall (?) and two swings. My son (will be 5 end of August) He really is already too big for it. I'm so glad I did not spend money on it.

this is the exact one I have

Is the Wood swingset a Walmart one? If so..they sell them in stock at the store to save on shipping. Their sets are very sturdy. We were quite surprised just how good the quality is.

We have the same one and also got it as a hand-me down (free). It should serve us well for a couple of years.

Yes. I did not know they carried it in stock. The one with the blue and yellow.

Which store?

I'm pretty sure Centereach has them. You have to pull the little card hanging on a rack from the toy section (across from the bikes). If you don't see the card, ask someone. They usually have them stored in the patio section outside.
