Re: Yes/No Spinoff
I voted no. I'm sure there is..large number theory...but I haven;t seen anyone. there are some people I just can't relate to, or who I "don't get" but so far no one I think who needs to be locked up.

I actually said no because I dont feel right calling someone that I dont know insane. Especially off a computer screen. I think many people are different but thats just life.

I feel the same way. I don't really think you can know someone through their posts on a BB. It's not enough information to really judge someone, plus I can't believe I actually can't think of anyone who I would say that about anyway. LOL

Re: Yes/No Spinoff
Full blown insane? No
A little odd/eccentric? Yes, but I would include myself in that category.
But since this is the internet, there is a good chance that someone who comes across as totally normal is pretty disturbed. This happened with a friend from college (seemed totally normal, turns out she was calling one of our professors and threatening to kill him) so it's hard to really know and judge a person.

i disagree. people disclose so much about themselves on here, that you can totally tell if their elevator doesnt go all the way up to the penthouse. And, i think there's more of a grounds for forming an opinion based on that, Over 'crazy' people that we encounter during the day for 2 minutes

Thats fair. I agree that you may "think" that someone is not what you believe is "normal" but how does what someone else believe make them wrong and you right? I try not to judge people based on what I think is right especially when I am on a computer. I sometimes think something someone wrote is strange but I wouldnt classify them as insane.

I consider Forming an opinion and Making a judgement to be 2 separate things though. I dont think anyone here is making a Clinical diagnosis on the mental stability of other posters, but its not logical to say that we dont form opinions- it may just be a chat board, but any form of interaction makes it natural to form an opinion about someone- the same way that from reading posts you consider someone sweet, shy, intelligent, not so intelligent, funny, etc... Theyre not judgements- just observations. And that doesn't automatically interpret to the idea that one is "right" while the other is "wrong".

the question doesnt state if you think someone is shy, not shy, intelligent or not intelligent...it states do you think someone is truly insane...and my answer is still....no.

that's fine... i was just using an 'example' to show that, IMO, it wasn't 'passing judgement' as you said
