Please help me plan an anniversary vacation
On a budget... we're looking to spend under 2k I was thinking of Florida in late November. (decided not to go to FLA)
I have this Jetblue flight credit that I have to use or I will lose it.
Plus it would be nice to get away for 5/6 days.
Any recommendations?
Update: We've expanded our budget. This is what I have been exploring:
Option 1. Couples Swept Away, Negril Jamaica - seems like they have tons of activities included and it's been rated very high at Trip Advisor.
Option 2. Majestic Elegance in Punta Cana. Cheaper than option 1. However there are not nearly as many activites included.
Has anyone been to both of these places recently?

In Florida I would look into Sanibel Island or maybe Siesta Key.
I would also highly recommend Riviera Maya in Mexico. You can definitely do an all inclusive on that budget and its really nice. We went at the end of November last year and loved it! Oh, and we took Jet Blue there!

Thanks. Mexico did cross my mind however, the weather forecasters are predicting a much more active hurricane season than ever. I don't want to chance it. Thanks for the suggestions!

I think Florida would be hit worse than Mexico as far as hurricanes. I think Mexico doesn't really get hit with them. But usually by the end of November you don't have to worry about that. We booked through Liberty Travel, even if you don't book with them, its good to sit down with someone and gather info and recommendations. Good luck! Also, we are going to Punta Cana this year at the end of November. The prices there are similar to Mexico.

Thanks again. I did speak with a TA and they suggested Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica. I have never been to Jamaica nor has DH. However, it's supposedly has all these great reviews. Problem is, it could cost us $3000 total which isn't bad however, I want to stick to the budget plan. Hmmmm decisions decisions... I will check out Punta Cana too.. would you mind sharing the resort that you are staying at? I have never been there either.

Re: Please help me plan an anniversary vacation
I second the Mexico suggestion. There are so many gorgeous resorts there that are reasonably priced. Also, what about Punta Cana? You could easily do a vacation at or under that budget over there. Check out the Excellence Punta Cana.

Re: Please help me plan an anniversary vacation
If we could have expanded our budget then I would've picked Couples Swept Away in Jamaica lol. I've never been but I've always heard amazing reviews.

Re: Please help me plan an anniversary vacation
I just returned from Couples Swept Away. It was so great! The resort is not full of marble, granite, and all of the luxuries you might see at other resorts. It's truer to Jamaica, but still very nice. The staff was fabulous and the food was so good we couldn't believe how each meal just kept getting better. The beach was the nicest we've ever seen and the included activites are a really nice extra. I'd definitely recommend it and the rate you were quoted sounds great. CSA has a very high rate of return guests, which is what made us choose it.
If you want to go to Mexico I'd HIGHLY recommend Excellence Playa Mujeres, and more specifically a roof-top terrace room if it's within your budget. EPM is more modern and luxurious. The spa is to die for. Food isn't amazing, but it's not bad either. While at CSA the beach was amazing and the pools were lacking, here at EPM the beach isn't as nice (still nice, but it's not Jamaica) but the pools are really nice.
And in DR (which would probably be your cheapest option), I would suggest Excellence Punta Cana. We went in 2007 for our HM and might be going back next year. This one has more of a caribbean feel (not as modern). Beach is nice, pools are great, service was fabulous, and food was pretty good.
Def check out TripAdvisor for reviews and traveler photos. I always find those to be truest and helpful. Feel free to FM me if you have any questions.
